profile

Treasure Beach is the only place to live in Jamaica. He would never want to live any place else. This is how Mr Hursley Moxam, otherwise called "Bowl", feels. He is truly a Treasure Beach man.

He was born in this community and has lived here all his life. He says that as a boy growing up in the community it was always a fun time for him. He loved going to the beach to swim with his friends. They would go into the hills to look cashew nuts, sweetsop and mango. Those were the good old days. After he became a man he went into his own business and he has no regrets about doing so as it helped him to keep in touch with people.

He has watched Treasure Beach gradually grow into a tourist attraction and it makes him feel good to be a part of this growth. He feels that if we as citizens nurture this industry it will become bigger and more people would be gainfully employed. He is a very quiet person, but this does not stop him from having a lot of young and old people around him. His hobbies are reading and watching movies. When you pass by his house you can see him reading the newspaper or a book. Car racing is his favourite sport.

Like so many people in Treasure Beach his favourite meal is fish and bammy. He says you can't give him too much of this to eat. His wish is to see us getting better roads because this would help the citizens and the tourism sector. We would like the fishermen and farmers to get more help from the government. He wants parents to make sure their children get a good education as this is the right of the children. People like Mr Hursley Moxam are the role model that we need in our society.

Hey uncle Bowl!

How's it going in TB? Well we all just finshed checking out your profile together (me and my Dad) and we think it's pretty neat. Hopefully I'll get to see you during the Spring when I come with my entourage of college friends.

I know you said your two favorite Americans are Colin Powell and me, so I am attaching a link to my AF ROTC Detachment's website so you can see what I do, and FYI, I was the webdeveloper of that entire site. The picture gallery address is http://afrotc.syr.edu/CadetResource/gallery.htm, see if you can find me in the pictures.

Also, I haven't been getting much flight time between engineering and working on a new formula one car, but I'm in the air on weekends if the weather's good. Plus I got to test out a T-38 last summer!! http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/t-38-199905172ship.jpg (that's what it looked like)

Anyhow, Dad says hi, and not to fear 'cause he is a lover of the fish too. Say hi to Aunt Carmel. Bye.

Love your nephew,
Mox

Wow I came across this page by accident, (I was searching for a bammy recipe, embrass to say that I cannot cook a real jamaican meal without researching, even though I was born and raised there and spent 21 years of my life there and a jus come a farrin 5 years ago)lol....
Anyway, this is such a nice page, it seems to be intimate(family and friends) but it gives me a piece of Jamaica that I miss at times. The profile was well written, keep up the good work Trudy-ann, maybe one day we will be reading your books.
Take care all...of course i have no connection to TB, been there only once, but I am from the parish next door beautiful westmoreland, but I do believe my mother now lives there...her name is Jasmine Green

Hi PJ,
Nice to see you on the website. Give my love to Gary, Miss Carmel and Shameka. I was hoping to come to Jamaica real soon but it doesn't look likely after Ivan destroyed our beautiful Treasure Beach.
Hopefully we'll be there soon.
Please give my love to my grandmother Vincey for me. I know she lost her house during the hurricane. Tell her not to fret cause everthing will be alright and we will see her soon.

Much love from Marcine and Deneisha Trenchfield.
