This is a profile of Ita James, My great grandmother, Mrs. Ita James (otherwise known as Miss Etta) is 94 years old.

She celebrates her birthday on the 16th of September. Her parents were John Gordon and Rosetta Gordon. She had four sisters and six brothers. She was born in the district of Calabash Bay where she also grew up. She was married to the late Alfred James. The union produced two children. She has twelve grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.

Her favourite colour is pink and her favourite dish is guango soup, sweet potato and bammy. She enjoyed growing up in Treasure Beach. She said it was very quiet and nice. She enjoyed going to the beach.

Mammy Ita was a kind hearted higgler. The school children of the community enjoyed her delicious grater cake and coconut drops.

When asked to compare Treasure Beach in earlier years to now, she said today's young people have more jobs but in past they were more respectful. Her advice to the youths of Treasure Beach is to fear God, be obedient and respectful and put God first in whatever they do.
