My friends and I visited the Womens Group about three weeks ago and it seemed a lot more quiet than before. We wanted to buy things but all the merchandise seemed to be the same things they sold last year. Does someone have a different experience or could you suggest other places to buy small items to take back as gifts? We very much want to support craftspeople and artists who live in Treasure Beach and not necessarily people who are coming from other areas to sell in Treasure Beach.

There are usually men such as Angus, Quest, and Stanley who sell carvings, beaded anklets, necklaces and other items. LT is a woodwork artist with his gallery across from Q'EN Plaza(where Morris was previously located). Also there is a painter (his name escapes me)who does beautiful oil canvas paintings(contact Morris @ Pardy's, he use to display the pieces in his shop)- I've nver met this artist so I'm not sure if he is a resident. Then there is the house in Calabash Bay whose house has the mosaic tile work you may want to check with them. In the past I've purchased nice things from Quest and Angus.

The Treasure Beach Women's Group currently support people from the TB area as well as groups within a half hour vicinity who work very hard on their crafts and have no where to sell them. The St Helena Craft group are one of these groups. A lovely bunch of woman who make fantastic weaving wear, from baskets to placemats. The store also stocks local handmade calabash candles and starlights which are all from the area.
At present the Womens Group are working on new ideas for merchandise to sell in their store. Ranging from napkins to hats and handmade scarves.Hopefully next time you come you will be able to take some of these home with you.

The TB womans group work on a volunteer basis in which all money goes back into the community.
I hope that people continue to support the TB women's group as it works towards a better future.
