what is the time difference between Jamaica and eastern standard time? I am wondering because my flight leaves Ft. Lauderdale at 2:17pm on 4/13 and we arrive at Kingston airport at 3pm. We depart Kingston at 3:50pm and arrive back in Ft. Lauderdale at 6:37pm on 4/19

We just "sprung ahead" an hour, so that's the time difference.

Oooor, there's a nitrous oxide vortex between Florida and Jamaica :-)

Wish there was one from up here in the north!

During Daylight Saving time we are one hour ahead of Jamaica.

Jamaica is one hour behind day light saving time. When there is no day light saving time, there is no time difference.

Bryan, enjoy!!!!

I'm estimating that its about an hour and 45 minute flight. Looking at the map I see the most direct flight to Jamamica from Florida would be over Cuba but of course that's not going to happen so just out of curiousity I wonder how much extra time it adds to a flight to avoid Cuban airspace

I was very surprised on my first flight to JA form Miami that we did in fact fly over Cuba. I guess 35000 feet is enough distance for the US Gov't to ensure we didn't get brainwashed by those pesky communists. :-)

I believe whenever you fly with Air Jamaica you can fly over Cuba, but with a US carrier the flights are longer because they are not permitted.

Nope, American Air flies over Cuba. Maybe they're only flying over Gitmo? :-)

The Cuban government has long allowed international flights to overfly in specific and rather narrow corridors. For a time there was only one; I believe there are two now.

I have flown on Spirit into Mobay a few times and my experience has been that they have been that their stated arrival times were on correctly stated.
