Hi Everyone,

I'm very excited to be coming back to TB soon!
In the past, we've been doing shopping at the Black River supermarket. This time we'll have a car, so I was wandering if there's another supermarket on the way from the airport where we can buy food. Maybe in MoBay? We're on a tight budget, so I'd appreciate any advice.

Thanks!
zina.

There's a big Super Plus in Mobay and it has eveything you would find in a North American supermarket, there is an ATM(ABM) and they accept debit cards as payment for your purchases. A little closer to TB, just as you approach Junction(on the right side) there is a large supermarket that also carries everything(food to alcohol)local and international brand names. I think its name is Safeway(or something close). Enjoy your time!!!!!!!!

There is now a large supermarket right at Crossroads, located about 10 minutes out of Treasure Beach. It does not have the selection that the Super Plus in Mobay has, but it does have a very good selection and supply of everything you would need from grocery items to liquor and more. They also take debit cards.

An ATM and a Scotia Bank branch will be opening at the same location soon.

Rebecca, that's great news. It will save me many trips to Junction.

In our visit during Christmas, we found everything we needed at the supermarket in Cross Roads. The staff was very helpful and extremely friendly. I really enjoyed shopping there.

its better you wait until u reach black river before you do your shopping, just in case you never know who might be watching you have a good trip and be very careful.

Hi Zina,
If you are renting a car and will be driving from the Air Port please be careful on the roads and ask for directions to Cross Roads and do your shopping there. It will be less congested than Black River and to find parking in Black River is terrible. Been there done that, it was an experience to remember. Cross Roads as Rebecca mentioned is so close to Treasure Beach.

Thanks so much for all your responses!
Also, I remember there's a market every Saturday in Black River. Please let me know if there are any other stands where we can get our fruits and veggies. Maybe right in TB?

Thanks!

In TB, Junior(bamboo stand next to South Jammin) usually has a great assortment of delicious fruits, porridges and reasoning(conversation). For vegetables and ground provisions(root crops) you can usually get them conveniently from the food van that goes door-to-door, ask someone locally for the specific days that they pass through. An alternative is Black River Market which is daily and offers more produce more economically than the food van. Also along the drive from Mobay to TB via Whitehall you'll pass many fantastic roadside stands that offer fruits & veggies for sale. I've found that you can sometimes find things at these stands that may not be available in the TB area depending on the season(ackee, breadfruit, mango etc). Whichever means you choose for shopping, enjoy the delicious food. I'm jealously wishing I was heading to TB. I have always rented a car and driven around for shopping, excursions and exploration with no problem mon and I'm a female with a small child. Again, enjoy and just remember to watch the pot holes!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd say go to Junction over Black River for sure. Good supermarket in Junction, the roads are ok to get there from TB and there's plenty of parking right by the store. I've found Black River was hot and without breeze. The only problem I have is that the bakery where I get coco bread is in Black River!

Where ever you go shop shopping from the list of all the places mentioned just be cautious of your surroundings just like we have to do here in the States/Canada/London or anywhere for a matter of fact.I went to Top Junction to do my Grocery shopping at Super Plus because the parking was better and it was very cool almost needed a thin sweater but, I went to Black River to do my veg/fruits and meat shopping. I found it very, very hot and humid so dress light and take a bottle of "COLD" water with you.
By the way that grocery store Rebecca mentioned at Cross Roads was not around at the time of my last visit.Just explore and have all the fun in the world with the nice friendly people of TB.

Thanks Jenejen for letting me know there is a meat shop near the square at Top Junction seeing that's where I went grocery shopping the last time I was there.

I was told you can also get meat, chicken and I think fish to buy from that Plaza where Morris had his first coffee shop.

I think Sharon Swaby Miss Girly,s daughter opened that just before the Christmas Holidays.

Check it out she is a wonderful, most helpful person of that community so, give her some support, share the love.
Why pay to go so far when you can shop so very close to home.
