My wife and I recently returned from our second trip to Treasure Beach. The first was our honeymoon, two years ago. We stay at Jake's, but were fortunate to make it into the surrounding countryside and villages, including a wonderful trip to Lover's Leap and a fantastic biking/hiking/swimming excursion with Andy (find him at Dougie's Bar on the Jake's property). But our great find this time was Pardy's Coffee Shop. Mr. Morris (aka Pardy) is the proprietor, and he serves the best breakfast in town! The coffee (high mountain, not blue mountain) is stellar. His callaloo omlette is worth the entire trip to the island, though. He stews the greens with vegetables and some secrete spices his mother instilled in his memory. Done to perfection and served with bammy. Yum! Kim's and South Jammin' are also worth a visit or two (Kim's steamed vegetables is wonderful for lunch or dinner).
Best, however, is Pardy himself. He's a wonderful conversationalist--a truly charming fixture in the village, and a genuinely affectionate host. I hope he prospers with his new coffee shop. Don't miss it!
I think Morris is a hardworking man. i hope he will do good ath his new location.
kenning... you made m mouth water!
Hail up morris Pardy coffee shop good location.
Make that p-o-s-s-e (posse, not passy)
Passy for dialect is fine.
Not many of us know how to spell the dialect but understand every word. Neva mind WPB Passy, wi anda-stan.
Passy Or Possy whats the difference? dialect is very fine. Hail up Pardy Coffee shop. We coming soon.
Where is the Pardy Coffee Shop located in TB?
It use to be Tiffany's Restaurant 3 minutes walk to Jake's. Right in the heart of Treasure Beach.
Pardy is a great person and place...now how is that possible...a walking noun! Hi Pardy..I really felt special each time I was in your presence. Zeb and I had breakfast there the last day I was in TB..delicious..next time I am having ackie and salt fish. Ooh yes I can't forget the great Saturday afternoon country jam in the parking lot...your sons are great hosts and not to mention Bebe's country CD collection...I am bringing him some of my collection next time I am there...he is a great country music fan..just like us up here in the High Arctic!
Pardy is really a good host, I wish him all the best. I will be coming to Treasure Beach soon.
Hey Pardy, just want to say that you are a gem in Treasure Beach and your ackee and saltfish is the best i've ever tasted and not to mention your curry lobster mouth watering love it.
NUFF LUV and all the best.
Pardy's sign came down. And when we saw it appeared Morris had closed the shop on our recent trip, my wife and I nearly cried. On our final morning, we took a walk very early, saw the sun rise over the Santa Cruz mountains and the marsh birds spark up in song, and then Morris appeared down the road, setting up the menu sign and setting out the tables out front. We had our favorite callaloo omelette and one of the nicest mornings imaginable. Morris remains a warm host and the food is second to none. Don't be discouraged by the missing sign--long live Pardy's Coffee Shop!
Pardy has now covered the front patio with thatch. A wonderful addition as you can now sit outside in the cool shade.
I like Morris, love his food (have for years) but when I checked out Pardy's last winter he was serving on disposable plates with plastic cutlery. Is this still the case?
I guess he is then.
Morris could serve me off the floor.. for most of us who come down to work with Jamaican teachers from Western Carolina University, not being able to visit with Morris while we're here leaves us with an empty space in our hearts....Tom
It was china plates and proper knives and forks when I ate there in October! Oh yes and good food and the usual interesting conversation!
Pardy is not a five star restaurant so who cares if he uses disposable dinner ware.
Just give me the delicious food he prepares that's all I ask.
Did something happen to Morris?
All was fine this last February and yes he was using proper plates and cutlery and yes that was important to me. If he hadn't, I would have had no problem eating all my breakfasts at Frenchman's Reef, Winifred's or any number of other places.
Where does any disposable dinner ware get disposed to? Burned? Buried? Specially the plastic and styrofoam. The waxed paper ones can be shredded and composted.
It's the multitude of little things that add up to the big picture.
Good ceramics can take washing with soil friendly soaps in solar heated water/steam that empties into the so called grey water recycling system.
But why badda? End time coming eh?
My bet/hope is that it is the end of ignorance and it's cousins and the start of sense.
Really??? This is what you wanna take issue with? (TBnet, feel free to edit as necessary..lol)
We're with Tom...Morris could sling our food from the kitchen and we'd still be there!
Anyone who is going by, can you please tell him Shauna and Nigel say HI!! and the Corn Sham Sham (I have no idea if I spelled that right) that he sent home with us is still under lock and key and treated like gold around here...but...I think Nigel sneaks ;o)
