My fiance and I would like to have a very small, private ceremony somewhere in Treasure Beach, it would only be the two of us and two witnesses. Early February. Is there a little church in Treasure Beach? or a nice wedding spot with someone who could
perform the ceremony?

You need a license from Kingston. Over the years we've had several weddings at Hikaru, but it's a lot of work. Frankly, I'd suggest getting married at a Negril hotel, where they make all the arrangements, and then coming to TB to honeymoon.

If you get married in Jamaica, the legal paperwork needs to be done here as the wedding is officiated by a Jamaican authorised marriage official.

There is a minister right here in Treasure Beach, Pastor Campbell, who is authorized and can handle all the legalities for you. You would just need to provide him with an original (raised seal) birth certificate and when applicable, divorce papers from any previous marriage. That is it.

I can give you his contact information if you would like.

We have had "destination" weddings at Rainbow Tree. (Please see www.RainbowTreeVillas.com.) Over the years, things have gotten much easier -- and the trip to Kingston is no longer necessary. All arrangements can be handled locally -- paperwork, minister, catering, music, decor, photography, videography, and more; it is even possible to rent a beautiful wedding gown.

We would be glad to supply references from happy couples.

No offence meant, but visitors to the "Third World" need to understand that there are certain universal standards by which we abide.
Marriage ceremonies in Jamaica are meant to be legally binding undertakings, sanctioned by Jamaican law, not dependent on subsequent actions taken back in the US.

Rasa, we were married at Doubloon Villa last February - we got married right on the beach in front of the house - just the 2 of us - it was perfect. Rebecca and her staff were amazing and couldn't do enough to make our day perfect.

Pastor Campbell officiated and it was all very easy.

Good luck and don't stress, it will be great!
