I'd like to tell fellow Treasure Beach lovers about my recently-released collection of essays, The Toilet Papers, Pieces Just the Right Length, published by Sampson's Ridge Press.

In the book are sixty-seven essays, half of which have been previously published. Some of the pieces are rants about wars and rumors of wars, man's inhumanity to man and planet, and other ephemera in the cosmic scheme. Others are paeans to nature, and many are just meant to amuse.

In today's hectic world, we seem to have little time to read. But The Toilet Papers can be read in short gulps - at bedtime, perhaps, or - well, as the title suggests... :D

If you would like to see the book cover, and what some are saying about the work, and even read a sample essay ("An Expert Like Madame"), go to:

and click on the link at the very top of the home page.

Thanks! And happy holidays!

FYI: Jane has also done a CD of Jamaica pictures and has been kind enough to offer some of the proceeds to some good causes in the community:

Thanks to the Webmaster for giving yet another nod to my Caribbean Cantata. I don't recall if i ever mentioned that Caribbean Cantata is not just a mess of Jamaica photos burned to a CD. It is unique in that it is actually a website on a CD, programmed by my husband, John, to run on all machines. The photos change at five-second intervals, and any photo can be stopped (for longer viewing) at any time, and any spot where you stop can be bookmarked and returned to next time you view the thing. You can read about the work, and see a sample slide show, on my website.

This kind mention by the Webmaster prompts me to make another offer: For any copy of Caribbean Cantata sold by the end of December, I'll give half the proceeds to Treasure Beach Foundation for their scholarship fund. Snail mail order forms are on the website, or you can use PayPal. Just mention that your purchase is to support the Foundation.

Many thanks to those who have been so supportive of the Foundation in the past, and to any who might offer support in the future.

And on a final note: we just posted on my website a link to the Table of Contents of The Toilet Papers, to show just what I found worthy of ranting about over the past twenty-five years. :D

Not only does Jane Wingate "see" things differently as you can tell by her gorgeous photos of TB and surrounds, she "thinks" differently, too! I ordered a copy of her book and was amazed. It makes you laugh, sometimes makes you cry, but most of all...it makes you think!

Jane can take the most ordinary subject and really get you to thinking about it by the way she writes. She has a unique way of describing people and situations that will make you laugh.

In fact, I think I'll try her trick she wrote about in "An Expert Like Madame". Do yourself a favor~get a copy of "The Toilet Papers" and put it beside your "throne" or your bed for night time reading. I guarantee you some giggles and a giant "roll" of great reading!

I have a copy of The Toilet Papers in my own personal "reading room." It's great fun; the essays will make you laugh, and cry, and think. Wingate really has talent. Surprised this book hasn't gotten wider distribution.
