Hello TB, my bride to be and I will be at Jakes in a couple of weeks and can't wait to experience all the TB has to offer...I was wondering if there is anywhere that we may swim with dolphins as I have seen some pictures on this site of them...looking forward to our honeymoon at Jakes!!!..thanks!!
Not in Treasure Beach. That kind of tourist activity is available on the north coast along with jet skis, para sailing and the like.
South Coast tourism goes more along more natural lines. You can (and should) take a boat ride out to Black River and/or Pelican bar and you've got a good chance of seeing dolphins. But (fortunately in my opinion) the dolphins are allowed to swim unmolested by human activity.
Dolphin can be seen mornings and dusk off Billy's Bay and Fort Charles and TB boatmen can
judge your chances of seeing them by tide/weather.
You can indeed get in the water for a few moments at best with dolphins from no more a 20 foot distance, but they're skittish, wild-- nothing like the
captured dolphin touristic experience on the North Coast which is not only costly but
of harm to the penned 'attractions' -- and like
the camel rides and all-terrain vehicle trips
should be shunned.
Add jet ski tours of lots for sale to that list of what should be avoided, esp. in the Goldeneye land development area.
As a former TB resident, it drives me crazy that I don't know everything going on there. Could someone please tell me where "Goldeneye" is and what it is all about?
Pure love.
Dolphins can be spotted swimming past Treasure Beach quite frequently. I was standing on Calabash Bay beach a few days ago around 3 in the afternoon and saw several passing by.
Goldeneye is located in Oracabessa, just outside of Ocho Rios. About a 3 1/2 hour drive from Treasure Beach.

Oh ok. Thanks for the enlightenment Rebecca.
Wow Rebecca just to let you know Dolphins is a danger to fishermen boats.
Funny, I thought fishermen were dangerous to dolphins!!! Who's habitat is it anyway?????
