Yesterday, while listening to the radio I heard Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Tufton, state that there is monetary relief available from the Ministry of Agriculture for farmers affected by Hurricane Dean. Has any of the TB farmers(South Coast) made application to the Ministry? Maybe Rebecca and others in TB could provide assistance to farmers to apply as there may be paperwork that some might find difficult.
I am sure there are many smart, bright, intelligent, no no-nonsense farmers who are quite capable of filling out their own paperwork; sometimes with the help of their smart, bright, intelligent and no nonsense children. Many of us were raised by such parents, right here in TB. Hoping many will take advantage of the help. Thanks for thinking of us.
Tnx, the tone of your post sounds angry and I apologize if you were offended. In every society there are those who are capable and those who need help, I was only suggesting that the two put their energy together to benefit all! Hoping that all farmers in need can access the Ministry of Agriculture's relief.

Good answer Tnx
A man is not dirt because he works in dirt.
While we agree with your statement, TB2, its not relevant here. If you read the comments fully, no one has made derogatory comments about farmers (or anyone else) here.
I catch what you are saying Alice. It's a difficult task to work in the fields all day and then go through mounds of paperwork where every T is to be crossed and i dotted. It's a lovely suggestion.
At some point Rebbeca is going to have to start charging for all these free services she is providing, and as for the person who said that a man is not dirt, I beg to disagree, every Man is literally dirt and i quote, " And God created man from the dust of the ground ", " and dust thou art and unto dust shalt thou return !!! "
it is not so bad being dirt.
Am I missing something here, has Rebecca been given the status of community leader? No disrespect but why is there an expectation that
she will organise everything?
Don't worry Jan, I am far from that status. I do think there is a tendency for some to underestimate the intelligence, resourcefulness, generosity, kindness, and helpfulness of the entire community of Treasure Beach. That is what makes this community so special and unique.
People don't need to depend on one source (i.e. myself or any one other individual) because there are many to depend on as each member of this community has their strengths.
I might have a computer, but I don't have a drill. When I needed a drill the other day, I asked a friend if I could borrow his. He refused to just loan it to me, came over and looked after what needed to be done. When I thanked him, his response was, "You've helped me out, so I'm glad I could return the favor." That is what this community is all about.
I am very sure that if the Ministry of Agriculture has monetary relief to be distributed to farmers, those farmers in South St. Elizabeth are very much aware of it and are sharing this information as well as information on how to qualify for the funds with others. Not to mention the fact that our new Minister of Parliment is also the Minister of Agriculture, which makes me double sure South St. Elizabeth will get their fair share.
Rebecca you are loved. Keep on doing your good deeds. Myself and my friends/families know a good person from miles and miles away.
It`s not just the farmers need help the fishermen need it too lets not forget about them.
TB Girl we know everyone needs assistance so let us all do our part.
Contributing in anyway possible is "GOOD".
Both the farmers and fishermen will be getting assist from the New MP who is also the Minister of Agriculture Dr.Christopher Tufton.
I really hope they all get the help..and not some (BaGgA MoUtH)..
i hope both political sides will be getting a fear share of this help from the New MP who is also the Minister of Agriculture Dr.Christopher Tufton..
Fishing is farming whether it's inland or ocean fishing and this is why they both fall under the Ministery of Agriculture.
I think Dr. Tufton is on top of everything in his ministery but we must remember that he just got there a few weeks ago.
