The tournament began yesterday! Approximately 10 boats have registered.

As of last evening Paolo DelGrande was in the lead with a 27 lb wahoo, Jason Gordon in second place with a 20 lb. wahoo and Ken Dog in third with a 15 lb fish (not known what type of fish).

I spoke with Paolo about an hour ago and he just landed a 30 - 35 lb. wahoo. He said the sea was rough but the bait fish were out there, so they were getting some bites.

We will continue to keep you posted!

No they didn't...every boat on Calabash Bay was pulled right out...the seas were bigger than Hurricane Dean and there was an advisory out for all fishermen...no local fishermen went anywhere.

Most all of the boats entered went out this moring as the weather is beautiful. So far, Paolo is still in the lead, but we shall see what the day brings!

Well, I've just come back from another wonderful day enjoying the festivities of the Hook 'n Line Tournament at Calabash Bay Beach. The day started out on a reverent note as Lucky Dube's music rang out through Derrick Cunningham's sound system and respect was paid.

Those of us gathered enjoyed some fried fish and drinks, played some dominoes and waiting on the boats arriving.

By 2 p.m. all boats had checked in and the winners for the 11th Annunal Hook 'n Line Tournament were Martin Wright (Saccer), in his boat appropriately named Hook 'n Line, captain Hernon Parchment (Scaro), and crew member Noel Blair. The winning fish was a 34 lb. kingfish!

I am awaiting the complete list from BREDS of all the names of the 2nd and 3rd place winners and boat race winners and will post them when I receive them.

I have loads of photos which I will post as well.

The Hook 'n Line tournament is always a great time. I decided today that the best part is hearing the 'fish tales' once all the boats come in. Ah, the big one that got away . . .
