could someone let us know about the conditions of the roads, especially the part between Frenchman´s and Fort Charles...? This part must be much worse now, after the hurricane, I suppose... it has been so very bad on my last visit...(april this year) and one got stuck in the pot holes in Billys Bay and further down direction Frenchmans, too...
would be good to know... thanks
The roads are much better than they have been in years, thanks to the recent elections. Also, Hurricane Dean caused no road damage.
thanks Karen, but I really would appreciate a more detailed answer to my question.
What about the potholes in Billys Bay and on the way down to Frenchmans. There were some really big ones that were impossible to pass, especially after the rain. I simply would like to know in what condition I´ll find that road on my visit next month...
"the roads are much better thanks to the recent elections" is an answer that can not satisfy me... sorry. Have those wholes been patched ???
I was on the road coming into Treasure Beach and drove as far as Frenchmans and the roads are in better shape than they have been in a long time. No potholes. I will be going into Billy's Bay shortly so I can report back later, but I've heard all holes are patched and you can cruise right through to Ft. Charles.
Hey Rebecca you are aback home good for you.
I rode my bike through Billy's Bay to the outer edge Ft. Charles and was pleased to see that the roads were in *much* better condition than at any time in the last two years. I was worried about how they would do in a storm, but Dean didn't seem to cause much damage to the roads. There was one spot after you pass the coffee shop as you head toward Ashanti that was a little rough, and the spot on the way to the coffee shop just past Silver Dawn and Fairhill Villas was still bad, but other than that, I was pleasantly surprised by the condition of the roads.
All the major holes except one from Frenchman all the way through to the end of Billy's Bay have been patched. The roads are in better shape than they have been in years, and it appears as if the work was done fairly professionally this time. Going through Ft. Charles is also better than it had been, though there is still more work to be done there. (No I have no idea when it will be done.)
But with all the millions of $$ that was allocated howcum all we get was patch patch? Is the work finished?
do you want to say that for instance the big hole between ashanti and sparkling water is patched ? and the one .. coming from billys bay, just before the 90° degree bend that leads to the bakery, they are all patched ?... wow... that would be a relief...
Rebecca, I will be waiting for your report about Billy bay.... and thank you so much... !
Yes and yes. The only bad spots still left is the one in front of Serenity Lodge just before you reach Shakespeare and a few pot holes (which can be avoided) between the hotel and the bakery. Oh, and a few pot holes (again, can be gotten around) between Maylen Plaza and Kingfisher Plaza.
The patch job was done very well and the road to Billy's Bay is in better shape than I think I have ever seen it!
hmmm... sounds good,... but I guess, you guys are all so used to the potholes... to me, maybe some of them might still be frightening...
so the seawind one, the billy´s bay one, the big one before the turn to the bakery... they all patched ??? I can´t believe it guys, cause I have never seen it in proper shape...
looking forward to that and thanks for the reports... :-)
I'm happy there are some improvements but its sad to say that the history of roads being neglected and subsequently our conditioning, we are thankful for patching rather than the proper removal and complete resurface of the roads, I agree with, Why Only Patch. I guess it's the ole, "Hafe a loawf betta than nun".
