Can someone telll me if land line telephone service has yet been restored in Treasure Beach or when this might be anticipated. We are bringing our laptop and would like to be able to use it from where we'll be staying. If we cannot do so, are there places in TB that have or soon will have functioning wi-fi?

Sunset Resorts has/did have wi-fi. You might check with them.

Treasure Beach has wifi and phone service is back. Breds in Kingfisher Plaza(shopping center with the big Christmas Tree on the main road near to sign for MarBlue) has rental internet service.

As of yesterday afternoon, the BREDS office at Kingfisher Plaza did not have land lines, and therefore, could not hook up to internet. The phone lines are still not working as of a few minutes ago on Old Wharf Rd. As BREDS is located at the beginning of the road, it is doubtful they have land lines right now either.

There are a few persons in TB that have Blackberry's which can get WiFi service, but land line phone lines are still down.

All cell phone services, including megaphone, have been up since the day after the hurricane.

As a clarification on Rebecca's post, Blackberry service is different than WiFi. Wifi would allow one with a computer to hook up to the Internet. Blackberry is a handheld device that uses its own network and, to my knowledge, won't connent a computer to the internet.

I forgot to mention, some folks are able to connect to internet via their Cable & Wireless and Digicel cell phones.
