Here in Great Bay we have had extremely low water pressure or no water at all and I just heard today that it is going to be that way for the next 4 months in the Treasure Beach area.

I was in Jamaica for two weeks and where i was staying i didn't see a drop of water in the pipe line for that whole two weeks, in a developing area as ours that shouldn't be. I had too either give away or bring back my duty clothes that i had with me.

DO WATER TRUCKS STILL COME AND GIVE WATER?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Rebecca on Sunday, July 15, 2007 - 02:23 pm: Edit Post

Patty, the reason is there is a drought going on and the Water Commission monitors water supplies to various areas at different times. It is kinda like load shedding which the electricity company does.

As of last night, there is water on the main and everyone with a storage tank is filling it up.

Water Water every and not drop to drink. Here we go again, choose your politician carefully, tell them what lack and need in the communities, ask them to work for you and them monitor them once you vote for them. So many county of the world do desalination and get their water from the ocean, Jamiaca could not be an exception. The money that the poiltician squader can be use to make Jamaica great. Some countries in Africa has done this, not to talk of oil rich countries in the desert like Saudi Arabia.

As an FYI, it has been our experience that once we approve a message which is in favor of one candidate or political party, the thread quickly deteriorates into a mud slinging discussion.

Therefore TB.Net does not accept any messages specific to any political party. We welcome you to air your concerns and opinions on how you would like to see things change and improvements to be made, however anything specific to any political party or politician will not be approved.

Thanks for your understanding.

The oil rich Saudis can desalinate the entire ocean, they are the same ones who are milking the world dry with their high oil prices.Desalination is expensive and not practical for Jamaica. There is plenty of water in Jamaica, the problem is getting it from point A to B.The whole world over is going through the same situation as Jamaica. In Florida we have water restrictions that can cost up to US $500 for repeat offenders, just for watering your grass on the wrong day of the week.It is called Global Warming my friend and the depletion of the earths natural resources.Whats politics got to do with it.

Politics has to do with water, or so the Jamaicans think. Like many US politicians, perhaps most, they will promise almost anything prior to an election. Then there is always a "reason" (if you can find them and pin them down AFTER the election) that they couldn't carry out their promises. In Jamaica we've seen big projects started before an election and abandoned soon afterwards. We've heard of politicians giving out free flour and cormeal if someone promises to vote for them. Here in the US, political parties actually contributed to churches' coffers if the minister would suggest whom to vote for in his sermon. It's all low and ugly, no matter which country you're from.

I am not denying global warming, but I am saying a lot of bad stuff is driven by politics. Promise the people what they want. Bribe them if necessary. Get their votes. Then disappear until the next election. Pitiful.

Dem seh "Once bitten twice shy". How many bites will it take to make you a wiser Man/Woman? We need to become free thinkers and not a nation that claim seh we born into X or Y political allegiance, so dem is who we ago vote for until the day we die. We can never move forward with this mentality, this is definitely the ideology for failure. No need to blame any particular government as it is the majority among us that always speaks. We are the catalyst.

There are two water lines in the Great Bay area, one they call the big line and the other the small line one is experiencing very little or no water at all.

I have spoken to members of the water commission team and they say that the water volume is very low and this is what is causing the shortage. Lets hope we will get some rain to increase the water volume and not put our trust in politicians as they only help themselves.

For the past three week I have been getting up at 2 a.m to fill my containers with water thats when a little water is in the pipe so I make the best of it.
