We visited TB in March and work was just beginning on the road repair. I was curious on the status of the repairs. Is the work getting done to your satisfaction?
yes, we definitely need an update on the road thing from you people who live in TB !!! How far has it reached and... are there signs that the Billy´s Bay and Fort Charles Road are included ?? thx
They are working on the roads every day. I have seen work being done from Station into Great Bay and down into Frenchmans. I sure hope they will continue into Billy's Bay as that road is dire need of repair.
The road from Station to just past the Ward's is pretty much complete. They have fixed the road by the Kingfisher Plaza and filled in pot holes thru Frenchman's. I do not travel the Great Bay road often, so maybe someone who does can give us a report of that road.
Heard the road work would go only as far as that wonderful tree that used to have the minibar around it in Frenchman's. My guess is that the road work to Billy's Bay and Ft. Charles will not happen. Not enough influential people at that end of the road. No hotels there. No people with political connections there. Hope I'm wrong because Billy's Bay and Ft. Charles are as deserving as the rest of Treasure Beach.
Hi guys it,s about time Treasure Beach have good roads!!!
When I was last there at the end of June, they had started the road work down from Great Bay on up....so there is still hope...Now we just wonder how long they are going to take.
Um ... semi-informed? No hotels or 'influential people' in Billy's Bay or Fort Charles? Nuestra Casa, Bucaneer, La Sirena, Pon de Rock, Button Bay, Rainbow Point and Rainbow Tree ... should I go on? In fact the TB Hotel is beyond the point you mention on the road! Besides, the residents of the area are the 'influential people' who need to be taken into consideration! I, too, sincerely hope you're wrong!

Good roads for everyone.
S...... you are so right... ! It is the people who need the roads daily, and from Billy´s Bay to Frenchmen is meanwhile a neck-breaking trip...
I wish they would stand up for their rights....they are supposed to be the "influential people", the villa owners could/ and sure would support...
What a bunch of nonsensical debate, If you are citizen, and live in any of this communities. You vote and you pay your taxes. Please note this, You are very very influential. do your part in the election is coming up. Ask the politicians who need your vote, what has he or she done for you lately to warrant your voting for him or her and see how influential you are. Especially about the road and protection from crime.
I've been told that most of the people in Treasure Beach pay their property taxes but some do not. But I've also been told that most do not pay their required income taxes. If this is true I'm wondering where the government is supposed to get the money to fix the roads and provide all the other necessary services.
The government "wastes" much of what it collects so even with delinquent taxpayers, the rate of taxation is high enough for there to be monies to perform the work and services. Just don't treat taxpayer's money like it belong to them and things will be fine.
I don't doubt the government wastes much of what it collects. Unfortunately, that's what governments tend to do. Without getting into a political discussion, I would guess that a big percentage of people in the U.S. feel their money is being wasted in Iraq, on the ridiculous fix-up efforts after Katrina, on paying government contractors for work done shabily or not at all, and so forth. But, maybe because we are afraid not to, the average person in the U.S. pays the taxes that are due. Meanwhile Jamaica charges an outrageous 16.5% GCT which seems to be their only way to tax everyone and get their money.
Questions for a Jamaican: What happens if property taxes are not paid? (Here your property can be sold at auction to satsfy unpaid property taxes.) Is there an enforcement bureau for income taxes, assuming one is not salaried for a large company that automatically complies with the tax laws? (Here everyone I know is afraid of the Internal Revenue Department; they can make your life hell if you don't file and pay on time.)
I have been intrigued by this subject matter since reading the various comments. I wish someone knowledgeable in Jamaican law would please respond. Thank you.
