Treasure Beach Foundation is especially proud of our first-place scholarship winner for 2006, Mederana Williams.

Last year Mederana was given a full scholarship to Hampton School. This covered her tuition, transportation, uniforms, lunches and snacks, books and book rental fees, school supplies, activities and functions fees, new technology fees, and several other necessary items.

During her first year (first form) at Hampton, she excelled at everything. Her grade point average as of the end of the first term was 87.6 and at the end of the second term was 85.6, placing her second in a class of 40 (and missing first place by less than one point). (The school year is not complete, so there are no third term results to report yet.) Her teachers have described her as “a confident student whose high standard of academic performance is the result of hard work and diligence, for which she must be commended.” She is a member of Hampton’s choir and is on both Hampton’s Honor Roll and Gold List. She is also noted for her exemplary behavior and excellent attendance at Hampton.

Our Board has been so consistently impressed with Mederana’s performance that we have chosen to give her another full scholarship to Hampton for the 2007-2008 school year.

Though her photo makes her look ecstatic, it would be nice to hear what this scholarship means to Mederana, assuming she has access to the internet. If not, maybe someone could tell her of this request. Likewise, it would be good to hear from some of the other fine youngsters who have won scholarships. I am referring to those who have not yet said anything in this public forum.
