The recent terror plots at JKF involving Carribean men will now but a strain on the Carribean islands. Expect that all international flights now from the islands will have strong security measures and expect it to be harder for citizens to get a Visa to travel abroad.

Were these men only from Guyana? if so, kindly remember Guyana is not in the caribbean but South America.

Yes, they are South Americans, but not many people know that. On the contrary, it still is making it hard for all. Let us hold hands at this time, even with the Guyanese because they need our support. Remember Bob Marley said, "One Love". Let us make the difference.

One was from Trinidad & Tobago, but from watching and listening to talk shows and the news I've heard that Al Queda is targeting the carribean overall and trying to recruit for terrorist activites.

All of the newscasts I've been hearing here in NYC keep talkin about all of the men as being from the Caribbean. Clearly we need some geography lessons as to where Guyana is ... and because of that I agree with OneLove that security is going to get tougher. And people's perception of safety in the Caribbean will change. I've already had a few people ask me if I was still planning to visit TB this summer since "there are terrorists in Jamaica now," as one person said. When I pointed out that the men had come from Guyana and Trinidad, not Jamaica, she said something enlightened like, "Oh, they're all the same. They're so close together." Yeah.

Agree w/ Love's comments. It is a time to stand together. All good people of this world. Hopefully things will change in my own government's policies and we will not continue to fuel hatred. But it is important for the eveyrday people to not forget that we are all brothren and sistren!

Do you really think it could get any harder for us? Don't forget that we already have a huge bulls eye on us with the suspicion of carrying kushumpeng to market.

Things will difinately get harder for us in the Caribbean. It is sad but true we do have terriorist amongst us; the Jamaica Gleaner of May 26, 2007 headline showed Mulslim Preacher Trevor Forrest aka Adullah al-Faisal been deported back to Jamaica. Al-Faisal is known for his hatred preaching towards Christian, Jews and non-muslims, he was very infuential to Jamaican-born Germaine Lindsay, in the London transport bombing which killed 26 people.

With the recent situation at one of the busiest airports in the world, which involved men from the Caribbean - Trinidad & Tobago and Guyana - yes Guyana is part of the Caribbean, they are members of Caricom, we have always embraced them as "family" therefore there is no need to deny them now. If we are going to say they are not Caribbean; then we should ask how then Shirnarine Chanderpaul & Ramnaresh Sarwan, two understanding cricketers paly for the West Indies.

Let us continue to be viligant, stay positive and pray that these Caribbean terrorist will re-think their actions.

Let's not forget that there are terrorists right here in the good Ol' USA. Ones that were born and raised here. There are good and bad everywhere and for people to say that people in one culture "are all the same" just infuriates me. I have good friends from Guyana, from Trinidad, Jamaica, Iran...have met great people from Egypt and other places around the world. People of all races and religion. I know why some people do it but I just don't understand why sometimes people have to put labels such as "Caribbean", Muslim" "black", "white" etc. Terrorists are terrorists period. Jerks are jerks, period.
I just hope this doesn't put a damper on travel to the Caribbean. They need the tourism.

Don't forget that most Americans lump Bermuda and the Bahama's in the Caribbean. Many Americans cannot name their Senators, Congressional Representative nor a Supreme Court Justice; sad but all too true. They can however discuss Paris Hilton and Anna Nicole Smith :-(

Thanks MilwaukeeMike, I am glad the comment came from a US citizen/resident.My daughter is a Law student and has just returned from the USA.She was dumbfounded by the utterly stupid questions she was constantly asked, some sadly by University students. One question in particular had her practically choking on her food 'Is England part of France? On the subject of terrorism I am sure the vast majority of people in the Caribbean were shocked by recent reports. It's interesting also that a handful of people are accused of a terrorist plot and suddenly the question is being asked: 'Is Treasure Beach safe? Funny how 'different' we are when everything is rosey, something goes wrong and we are all tarred with the same brush.
