This is a plea not to let the UDC destroy one of the few public beaches left. This beach was left in a will for all Jamaican's to enjoy. See below.

"Please help us to keep Winnifred Beach a public beach and prevent non-sustainable development that will prevent Jamaicans and visitors from using the beach by signing our petition. Please follow the link below. Thank you."

Winnifred Beach is one of the nicest beaches in Port Antonio.

As a suggestion, when you post items like this asking for wide support, the more details you add for those who are not aware of the situation the more support you're likely to get.

Thanks TBNET...good idea.

If they are interested in the petition to save Winnifred Beach, a click on the link will also give them more information.
Basically, Winnifred Beach is a stunning beach in Port Antonio (where Club Paradise was filmed). It was left to the people of Jamaica, particularly "the poor and infirmed", by the landowners who once owned it. Somehow, some way, the UDC (government run Urban Developement Commission) has managed to take possession of it and has plans to build...wait for it...a large hotel. As we all know, when these hotels are built no-one but registered guests are allowed to use the beach.
So...keep in mind how lucky we (locals and visitors alike) are in Treasure Beach that we are free to go on any beach at any time and there are numerous accesses to these beaches. We should support those people on the rest of the island who don't have this basic right and stand up for them.
