There are lots of community needs that are not being met at the present.
Would an annual commnity fundraiser like a fair help? For example to set up a homework centre for the children with computers so that they could do their homework with assistance from an adult who is better able to do so than their parents.
Sounds good - but have we seen the physical condition of the Sandy Bank Basic, Primary and the School Cottage - I think we should try to get funds to paint up these buildings - and too many carpenters are in our community who don't even care the condition their kids learn in - they can give some volunteer service to put in the empty windows and nail up some of the broken down benches. I also believe this would be a good project for the men to shine their lights on - as usually in society our men are not pulling their weights as they have the potential to. I believe we should try to improve on what we have now. Marblue had pledged to assist with the school cottage and we havent seen anything to the effect yet. But I am hoping they still have it in their pipeline.
If there were to be a community fund raiser -- like a fair, or a craft show, or music, or food, or art, or cultural demonstration -- while I was in TB for my vacation (Feb.), I'd be really likely to go and to spend a little money. I think other tourists would feel the same. Can't hurt to try.
Both ideas sound great!! I am sure that the community would support any fundraiser that involves the children of TB. It would also be nice for the residents, both men and women to show off their skills and spruce up the schools.
A talent show would be excellent, the people of Treasure Beach are always looking for something to do.
