With election getting closer , just looking for some creative and miraculous ways and means to help us out of this depression ,that we keep getting deeper and deeper into .Example ,we been selling everything that Jamaica pocesses to service the country ,plus we continue to borrow. The coffee and sugar cane industries are up for sale right now also Petrojam ,we/ve already sold JPS so when we dont have nothing else to sell ,what are we going to do ,its like selling your house to pay rent and this is not investment , because the foreign company got to be paid for their service in foreign currency .Anyway recently we/ve discuss crime ,tourism and roads ,some of the ideas that you guys present are very positive ,so you maybe smarter than the Prime Minister .

Hi St Bess, Your willingness to seek solutions to
our situation is the first smart action.
Each of us have different skills that can be
contributed to problem solving.
The first two, courage and determination are not
lacking.
Confronting the reasons for our debts and the
impact of our shortcomings requires honesty and
humility.
We are currently in a program of 'National
Development'.
One smart action is to project the long term
consequences of this.
Many lessons can be learned by looking at the
so called developed world in order to avoid
repeating actions that harm.
In reality, if the rivers stopped flowing, the
forests are built over and we become cheap labour
producing goods and services to pay our dept, not
many outside of this island would be affected.
Yes our foreign families would be saddened and
some would miss our paradise.
It would be us that would have to live in this
hell.
If our current path will take us out of the state
we seem to agree we are in, then let it proceed.
If not, where do we want to go and how do we want
to live?
We have two choices in the coming elections.
Are any offering smart choices?
What are the smart choices?

I'm not sure in what sense you mean smarter but contrary to what the PM is touting that the country is doing well that is not what I see in the lives of most Jamaicans. Therefore,I think I am smarter in that regard because I can see reality. I am going to call upon the Leader of the Opposition mr. Bruce Golding to lead the country back to a part that will enable the ordinary people to find more jobs, affordable and better education for children, better equipment for our fishermen, better support for our farmers, better equipment and facilities for our policemen, simplify the headache people go through to bring useful equipment into the island, at least one college per major industry to provide high level training, better roads, and the development of sport tourism for a start.

Yes Native. It would be smart for our politicians
to abandon denial.

Big smiles are pleasant to behold but I would
prefer bitter medicine wisely administered by
stern faces.

I think our Prime Minister is a smart politican but not a smart Prime Minister ,(observer 10\18\06) after meeting with Trafigura President Claude Douphin in august ,just before her party recived $ 31 million US dollars from Trafigura, of which she first deny ,when question about its return she said ,its been return via banking system ,Mr Donald Buchanan said via emissary ,two different stories .Then when she were ask to show the receipt of its return ,she said ; its been return and that is that. Her health care plan for up until eighteen year old sound good but there were no positive funding for the health plan she pass it on to Mr Omar Davis who was \nt even sure where the funding will be coming from , its all empty barrel making the most noises .
News yesterday Virgin airline taking over Air Jamaica London route ,why are they in a hurry to sell Jamaica , maybe they should wear tee shirt with sign saying JAMAICA FOR SALE CHEAP BY HUGGIE AND THE BANDIT .

The biggest problem in Jamaica is bribe, corruption, crime. The country need more educated people. Education wipe out proverty, less crimes, and Bess you said Jamaica is trying to be too Americanized you got it all wrong they should be Americanized, and Jamaica would be more productive.

RIGHTCHOICE,caution can be a virtue in any undertaking but let me remind you that Sports tourism is nothing new to Jamaica. Some years ago we hosted The JOHNNY WALKER CHAMPIONSHIPS and I think THE ANNUAl MARLINE TOURNAMENT is still going on. The concept of sports tourism does not have to be events that require enormous amount of expenditure that would create strain on things such as the national purse or security.

The hangup with Cricket World Cup in my opinion, is that cricket is not a game that appeals much to most of our main traditional tourist market and as such the amount of resources that was injectse into it require some kind of continuity to reap tangible benefits.Yet, cricket properly promoted has the potential to be a positive contributor to the economy.

Soccer appears to be the fastest growing sports in the USA. If we are able to put together somethings, like a Pan American Soccer festival,Summer soccer cammps for all ages among others they could pull in some tidy and steady dividends over a period of time.

Not so long ago on this website a group of cyclist were featured taking a tour. I think it was a nice idea. A cyclyng club in Treasurebeach could possible attract other such clubs from all over the world and has the potential of contributing immensely ton tourism over a period of time.We as Jamaicans have a lot. How well well we make use of it is something else.
