Hi. Myself and my husband are volunteering in Treasure Beach later on this year and we have already received various donations of supplies including boxes of childrens' books. We are wondering about the cheapest way of shipping these over from Scotland to Jamaica and/or any organisations whom we might contact for assistance regarding this? I am currently researching if there are any charitable organisations/projects here whom may be able to fund some of the costing but unfortunately haven't come up with much positive response so far. Can anyone offer me help or advice please?

Jennifer, whenever we're sending packages from Germany to Jamaica we use DHL (www.dhl.co.uk). They're reliable (nothing has been "lost" so far), there are no problems with customs and they are much cheaper than UPS, FedEx or whatever. I assume that their pricing in Scotland is comparable to Germany.
Just make sure that you declare the package correctly, this incl. a complete list with the contents and declaring the package as donation (very important). But you have to send it to a school, hospital, foundation or something like that, not to a private address.
