How are the roads currently? Have they all been repaired?
*allowmetolaugh*
to repair all the roads in Treasure Beach, including roads like the one running through Billy`s Bay and Fort Charles will take many years... and they havenīt started it yet....
however, if they did it at the same speed and with the same amount of people (maybe 5-6) as they do on the Police Station Road--- it would take forever... :-)
Seriously, how are the roads? Has anything of substance happened in the last several months?
since i was here last year, there's major improvement on the main road from pedro cross (petrol station) down through to the bakery.
i have not been to billy's bay but hear its bad. Great Bay road isn't too bad.
They've been slowly working on the main road putting in gutters and such for the past few weeks. very slow and probably too small. but a heck of a lot better than when it was at its worst.
I agree with 'better'. I did see folks bushing the road into Billy's Bay last week. I am hoping that means the repair work will start there soon.
Does anyone know what's up w/ the canal? Rumours have it that they finished the job. What's the dilly?
Hey, ONE MAN, I have some pictures of the canal, but no time to post them. If I still haven't put them up here in a few days, give me a reminder!
Overall, they are still working on it, still digging and building bridges.
Here are the pictures...
You can see the big canal that's been dug from Great Pond (in middle background) towards the sea. Note how it cuts to the left in this picture as it approaches the bridge (see next picture) I'm standing on.
The route crosses Old Wharf Road next to the Women's Group. A temporary go around (not pictured) is used for motor vehicle traffic while a bridge is being constructed in the path of the road. The white on either side of the bridge are piles of marl. The greenish water at bottom right is the canal from the above picture.
Close up of the construction.
Close up of the bridge's bottom section of concrete foundation
The surface of the bridge and one of the main canal-digging devices.
Close up of the bridge surface. The blacktop does not seem to be very thick. You can see where a chunk of marl has eroded away up to just before the start of the bridge.
The Treasure Beach Women's Group house to left, and Cacona Villa in the far background. Picture was taken from marl pile in front of Caterpillar digging machine.
Nice job Eric; much appreciated. That eroded chunk of marl from the road does give me cause for concern though. One Q: How recent are these pics? Seems to me that I've recently seen something resembling the first one.
ugly as sin but hopefully strong
Looks like a half a**ed job to me. I'm no engineer and even I can tell it's poorly built.
The pics were taken a week or so ago.
One clarification...where I say the blacktop is not very thick...it dawned afterwards on me that the blacktop that's there is probably just to hold the marl down before the put the 'real' blacktop over all the road, bridge included. At least I hope they do!
