Is it too soon to ask about the scholarships for the kids for next year? When do the winners get selected? Also, how are the 2006 scholarship students doing?

Treasure Beach Foundation has already ranked all the students who applied for the 2007/08 scholarships; this ranking was based on numerous criteria. We are, however, awaiting GSAT results to determine the actual winners. The GSATs were taken the last two days of March, but we do not expect the results until the first or second week of June. So, we will be making an announcement about two days after we receive the GSAT scores.

The five 2006/07 scholarship recipients are all doing well. We are especially delighted with Mederana Williams. Her teachers at Hampton cannot say enough good things about her. This young lady is second in her class at Hampton (and missed being in first place by less than one point)! For everyone who has donated to Treasure Beach Foundation, either directly or through buying a raffle ticket, you deserve sincere thanks for helping make such a meaningful difference in the lives of young people such as Mederana. They might not otherwise have had the opportunity to realize their potential.

In terms of ongoing support for the 2006/07 scholarship winners, this will also be announced when we tell who won new scholarships for 2007/08.

We recently returned from a fantastic vacation to Treasure Beach. The housekeeper where we stayed told me her daughter was competing for one of these scholarships. She mentioned that all the students, including her daughter, appeared to be trying so much harder in school this year. What a great incentive to the entire class!
