Heading to Treasure Beach 1st week in may for a couple of days, need directions, best way, cost to travel to PA, also weather at that time (best guess of course)
thank you
The fasted route would be through Kingston and Junction, once out of Junction you just ride the coast to PA..the weather will be great, expect some rain showers in the afternoons. Make sure you go rafting on the Rio Grande and go to Boston for the best jerk chicken.
I agree with all Tee said and would only add two things.
One, make sure to get some jerk pork and sausage at Boston Bay as well as the jerk chicken. Mickey's jerk is the best in Jamaica!
Second, check out Somerset Falls located just before you reach Port Antonio. Absolutely beautiful! www.somersetfallsjamaica.com
Plan on 2.5 hours, more if rainy or Kgton traffic dense for round the coast to Porty. Dickie's,
Norma's, the jerkstands at Boston Bay, the new chef at Mockingbird Hill for stoosh fare and
the bar with sometimes live music out at Long Bay
might go on your shortlist. Blue Hole/Lagoon and
Trident Hotel both closed to reopen Dec with
major rehab by Michael Lee Chin, tho one can still swim in Blue Hole. Reitch/Reach Falls, also closed, can be seen via a tip to the guard while
Somerset is free, public. US$5 entrance fee to Frenchman's Cove is one of best bets, as is the Rooftop Club downtown for louche scene, music.
Somerset isn't free, but its not too expensive either.

If you are looking for a tasty lunch or dinner-try out the restaurant at hotel Mockingbird Hill - Elmar Rensch - he was as guest chef at Marblue Villa Suite- fusion of Jamaican and international affairs - you will like it.
Surely it is longer than 2.5 hours from Treasure Beach to Port Antonio?
Sure is. Figure on 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 hour drive depending on the route you take and on traffic.
Kingston is the starting point and to Porty is 2.5 to 3 hours; TB to Kingston another 3 to 3.5 hours.
Should you turn at Kingston and go across the island on A3 or past Kingston via the coast on A4? Also, which would be the easiest for someone who does not know the way, and which way is the most scenic?
I'd go around, did it both ways within the last month, the construction between Annatto Bay & Porty is bad! I prefer the scenery going round St Thomas side also, not nearly as busy once you get out of Kingston.
The most scenic is via the coast through St. Thomas...but a little longer...if you go through the island expect delays also b/c they are still working on the roads which may delay you a bit.
Coast road is easier going and provides great vistas, with a stop to take the curative waters
at BATH slightly inland also an option to break
the trip. Porty's roads are in about the same
shape at St.Elizabeth's.
Kingston and make the turn accross A3 is best. Scenic? Depending on what you like. Going through Junction is especially beautiful for nature lovers including a stop at Castleton Gardens and great view of Blue Mountains. If you like hugging the coast, then A-4 but expect long delays. Make sure you check the conditions of the Junction road before leaving though, heavy rains usually create road blocks at times. I used to go to Windsor Castle a lot and still like the Junction route best.
