I doubt there is any hidden meaning of Bun & Cheese... it is just a normal, every day snack - a sweet bun with cheese inside it! (and a cheap meal at that)

I don't know if Bun and cheese is really cheap anymore. It might be an everyday snack for some people but I think the idea behind eating bun and cheese on Good Friday has some significance.I cannot explain it well but I know that some people do not have any kind of meat ( no shedding of blood) during Easter time out of respect for Jesus whose blood was shed for sinners .I grew up seeing people eating a lot of bun and cheese and fried fish for Easter. Some people usually stop eating meat around the Ash Wednesday/Palm Sunday time.

By the way,are they still closing the business places on Good Friday?

It's an Easter tradition in Jamaica similar to that of children receiving Easter eggs and hot cross buns in some cultures at this time of year.I can't speak for the USA but in the UK children are given hot cross buns at Easter. As Jamaica is a former UK colony I assume it's a derivative of this tradition.
