Is anyone aware that the Pedro Plains Police Station, with responsibility to serve the entire Pedro Plains Community and surrounding areas, is without a police car????
We are a tourist area. Not so much the tourists, but the residents here deserve at least the comfort, of knowing that we are protected by the close proximity of the police station. But are we really??? They do not have a partol car to use because it is always in the mechanic's shop. The police had to use their own motor vehicles to get to the murder scene on saurday night. What a shame again on Treasure Beach.

If the police cars are only used to go on emmergency calls why are they in the shops so often. How wide an area do they have to patrole and how often is it caried out.I know the roads are in terrible conditions could this be a part of the cause.Maybe they the police can ask their department to help by writing to the agency in charge of fixing the roads so everyone can benefit not just financially but it will also save lives by drivers not having always to be going all the roads trying to avoid potholes.
It is such a shame to see how long these roads are in (back-road conditions).
I can see if nothing is done very soon and the rainy season starts Treasure Beach will be completely cut off from the rest of the Island.
Get the donkeys/horses ready and I'm not joking this is serious business.

We've donated cars before it's time now that the government take care of their responsibilities.Fix the roads so the police cars stay in good driving conditions. As long as the roads are like they are you could help til god comes the police cars are always gonna be in the mechanic shop just like the residents and citizens.

We have previously donated $500 (US) toward a police vehicle. It is a sin that the government cannot keep our police supplied with the bare necessities. (Does anyone recall when their phone service was cut off because the government didn't pay their bill?) This is not a joke, people.

Does any of the politician visit of read the messages on this site or may be their Secretaries. It appears that whatever is written here falls on deaf ears, ignored or we are all disregarded as gas bags.It seems that our barks are more than our bites, let vote tis suckers out, does anyone ever take this so call representative to task and ask them what have they done for their constituency lately.
We all just write, write and write some more and nothing gets done. While it may sound callous I hope one of these figure heads so call parish council member or poiltician need the service of a police officer and it takes them hours to get there, may be something will be done. It is getting to be if you have problems, it is better to call Rastaman than the police. What a stinking shame.

I am very sorry to report Harris Moxam was shot to death on Saturday evening. From the reports I have heard, I understand his wife was closing up her shop located in Watchwell next to Jen-R-Us Hardware. This is about a 15 minute drive outside of Treasure Beach.

Harris was waiting for her in his van. Two men came to her demanding the money she had. They shot both her and Harris and ran off. She is in the hospital and recovering. Unfortunately, Harris died on the spot.

I understand the police do have a few leads which they are pursuing.

Needless to say, the whole area is in shock and we all mourn the loss of a good person and good citizen of our community.

Shame on the Jamaican Government, and not on the treasure beach. They should be provided with a vehicle by the government that they could use to attend to crime scene instead of using their own,but on the other hand if they had the government vehicle they would also use it to do their private affairs.

Our prayers and thoughts go out to the Moxam family & friends of Watchwell. My family mourn's your tragic loss.

We realize that any area is susceptible to violent crimes these days, what a sad social statement that is.

We believe the police will exercise every exhaustible avenue in bringing these heartless fools to justice.

There was a posting from Eric in this thread that some of you may have seen. His intention was to describe the geographic location of Watchwell, but he realized he worded it poorly. Therefore he asked for it to be deleted and it was.

For the record, Watchwell, where the terrible tragedy took place, is located about a 15 minute drive from Treasure Beach. It is just this side of the half way point between Treasure Beach and Black River. We all consider ourselves part of the South St. Elizabeth family of which Watchwell is certainly a part. Harris Moxam resided in Treasure Beach, and we all mourn the loss of a very good man.

This area (Watchwell) is very much a part of our community,
Harris was a member of our community so no need to distance ourselves from this tradegy and its location. We need to let it be known that crime is out of control and there is no help from this
Govt.that is unable to afford us the basics (Protection,Roads,Reliable electricity & water supply and decent education for our children ).
Let us talk about it ,let us do something about it....LET HARRIS DEATH BE THE SPARK TO GET SOMETHING DONE,WE ARE TOO TIMID,HOW MUCH MORE CAN WE TAKE ?????????T

Interesting, I just read on the Gleaner that Jamaica received 30 new ambulances and they have been distributed all over the island....Wonder if St. Bess will get one?

Watchell, I am with you. TBN is bias. Crime is crime, and if it affects one person in Jamaica, then we are all affected PERIOD. Let us hold hands and stand up for our rights and safety of our neighbours.
