If this is for villa owners, would you be kind enough to post a web site or an email address for enquiries? Many of us do not reside in Jamaica. Thank you.

Why did TPDCo choose this time of the year when its the busiest time of the season.

It was on request as one cannot be Jamaica Tourist Board approved unless you have attended the course.

They have promised to hold another course in the off-season as they fully realize it is difficult for many to take off for two weeks training right now.

Who in their right mind would WANT to be Tourist Board approved? There are absolutely no benefits to joining...take my word for it.

An off-island Villa Owner posts a simple request for information (above) on January 11. It is "answered" two an one-half weeks later with a notice still suggesting villas send their staff to a two-week course during the busiest part of the tourist season. What part of reality does the JTB understand? And they want to know why we aren't thronging to be "approved" and pay them dues. The answer is obvious. Who wants to be approved by an entity that appears to care less about its potential members and does nothing for them?

In all fairness to JTB and TPDCo. I requested a training course for now as I have two persons whom I need to have attend the course so they can get their JTB license. I know of another new business coming to the area who also needs to have their staff trained so they can obtain their JTB license.

TPDCo. will hold another training course in the off-season so others who cannot attend now will be able to attend at a later date.

Tell me the JTB isn't for hotels instead of villas. If a hotel wants to send 1 or 2 people to a 2 week course, they can because they still have lots of other workers. If a villa does that, they'd probably have to close for the week, as that would represent all or most of their staff. And we booked our villa rental almost a year ahead. If they called to tell me they were closing to let their people go to a course, I would explode. What Jamaican hotel would close up for 2 weeks in February except some totally loser place that was probably on the edge of bankruptcy anyway. I think I finally figured why villa owners are so negative about JTB.

Sorry Astounded, but I don't see anywhere where the JTB is forcing any villa to close to attend Team Jamaica Training.

Team Jamaica is a great two week training course. I personally asked TPDCo. to hold a course now as one of Treasure Tours' drivers will not be able to attend at a later date. No one is forcing anyone to attend the course at this time. Just the opposite, they are accommodating Treasure Tours driver's schedule and the schedule of another business about to open on the South Coast.

As stated in previous posts, TPDCo. will be giving another course during the off-season to accommodate all others who are not able to attend now.

Team Jamaica is a general training course. I believe TPDCo. has another course dealing with housekeeping specifically. As stated above, please contact them directly for more information.

The course on Monday will start at 9 and it ends around 2. You need to contact them in advance as you have to pay the course fee at Scotia Bank and fill in the appropriate forms for TPDCo.

TB.NET, calling from abroad can sometimes be difficult and as for emailing them, they have never once reply to any of my emails. So I thought if Rebecca is sending someone for training she might have info that I need.

I called TPDCo. at 1:37 pm today, trying to get info on the next training session since it seems i'm out of time to register for the one on Monday. As usual,i'm being put through to an extension which rings forever and then finally, the operator comes back on line and said I don't believe any one is in office at the moment to give you the information you need, please call back on Monday. Not cheap calling from abroad so TPDco could you please announce the venue, time and date for your next training session way in advance so one can have enough time to fill out forms and pay the fee. Thanks

The first notice of this training session was given on this board on January 10. As soon as I hear of a next session, I will post the information.

Not everyone tune in to treasurebeach.net every day. So why don't TPDco send written reminder to the various entrepeneurs in the Region like they use to.
