Hello all,

We've been to TB three times now, and we always have some difficulty finding fresh produce and seafood; we find some, but it is spotty. We cook for ourselves. Any suggestions?

Excited about coming down next week!

If you come in from MoBay on a Fri or Sat morning
on the early side, stop at Whitehouse for the
fresh fruit/veg/etc. market at harborside. Good selection, pricing, clean, no pickpockets like Sav. Look for Matilda, one of the better marketladies. The fishers' landing at Billy's
Bay beach, afternoons/depending on when boats
are due in/ is a good place to higgle for fresh
catch from Pedro Cays.

Black River market is the nearest and best for vegetables especially fresh on Friday or Saturday. You can, however, find vendors there every day of the week. If you spot one of the local produce vans on the road they usually have the staple vegetables and seasonal delights or why not ask someone to let a vendor know where you are staying they'll eagerly come to you.

Junior has set up a small stand located next to South Jammin' selling fresh vegetables and fruit. If you are lucky you will catch him on a day when he has made a pot of his fantastic vegetable and peanut soup.

Definitely go to Billy's Bay Beach for the freshest fish. Arrive about 4 p.m. and be prepared to stay for up to two hours. But, be sure to ask someone if the boats went out the night before, as they will not be going out if the seas are too rough.

The open air markets in Black River and Santa Cruz are the best. You'll probably find the very best selections on Saturday morning.

Eggs can be purchased locally.

There is a man who comes on a bicycle for calaloo.

Also, you can ask if anyone is selling things from their own garden.
