Unfortunately Tourist Destinations all over the world are affected by dishonest folks and so Visitors to the beauitiful and friendly Island of Jamaica need to be STREET SMART.

Visitors, Resort Owners, Tour Operators and the Jamaican Public need to be wary of a CON MAN who is well spoken, well groomed and wears a tie. He is known to be approaching tourist all over the Island and offering them package deals for Rooms and Tours; sometimes claiming to be owner of Resorts and Tour Operations or have affiliation with them. He sometimes collect money up front send you to a place he claim to own, only to your dismay when you turn up no one has ever heard of him. He sometimes befriend you and offer to take you on tours himself, drop you off at an unknown location and take off with your money. He also collects business cards from Resorts and Tour Operations, erase the telephone number and replace it with a phony one as well as he has his own phony business cards. EVERYONE, PLEASE BE ON THE ALERT and try to ensure that visitors as well as citizens are protected from such a crook.

Although we appreciate the heads up, we should call this something different that an "Amber Alert", which is the code name for abducted children.

P.S. Dec. 3, 2006. Folks let's keep a sharp eye out for this guy. Let's be alert as we do when there is a bulletin for an abducted child.
