I agree with you Kathy, but I swear I did not touch up the photo at all. Amazing, eh? It was one of the most beautiful sunsets I think I have ever seen.

Hey Rebecca:

What can I say, other than to try to respond to your incredible contribution in poetry. And it's not the best poem either. But who can truly describe a sunset?

SUNSET

If anyone should ask the time,
Tell them wait for day’s end,
turn Westward, watch
the magnificent show,
and time simply won’t matter

~Glasceta Honeyghan~

Then here are a couple other Sunset poems that better express a sunset:

SUNSET

Out over the ocean, and it’s waves it lay,
A magnificent orange sphere, as it drops to the sea,
With spears descending from within the fire,
The magnificent beauty of the sunset each day,

An immanent display, for the world to share,
As it seeps below horizons, to end the day,
Only to share light, so that others may see,
The beauty of the sunset for all who care,

Up above the clouds, that shadow the light,
The rain, the snow, and the elements that blind,
That magnificent glow, that Brightens our world,
Another sunset awaits, just to share its light,

~B J Ayers~

SUNSET

Every night
The horizon lights up
Swirls of pink and orange
Fading to blue and purple

Few bother to look anymore
At a blessing
That only comes once a day

Each sunset is different
No two exactly alike
Difference flows throughout
While it is the only similarity

Over the ocean
Or through the sky scrapers
Out on the prairie
Or in an apartment

You can still see a piece
A piece of something
Something never to return
A sunset

For the colors are shimmering
For a moment they stay
Only to disappear into change
Change just as beautiful as the last

This is why
No matter where you go
One thing remains the same,
A difference in sunsets

In your very own sunset
