Treasure Beach Forum: TB Runnin's: VERY GRATEFUL

I am a native of Treasure Beach. I am very grateful and impressed for all the persons who come in the area, love it, and give back to the community in a positive way. This does not mean monetary only. We are now talking about helping to give positive ideas, taking time out to interact in a healthy way with our citizens. I believe our Community is very, very special. Our people are very loving and special. However, it aches my heart to see some of the ugly things that have creeped in and is spoiling our young people, especially drugs. A lot of young people don't even care about the Creator. Thus this void in their lives is filled with a lot of negative things. Let us all, each one, help one. Just pure positive vibes we are dealing with.
I believe some of the older folks need to talk more to the young people, find out how they are doing, and not just leave them to their own fate. Some young people need a little guidance and encouragement now and then. A good e.g. of caring for our young people:-
Forming Youth Clubs, Youth Groups (Church), giving Holiday jobs to your youths, inviting them
to do some painting, gardening etc. Any other suggestions can be posted here.

‘However, it aches my heart to see some of the ugly things that have crept in and is spoiling our young people, especially drugs’.

Sadly drugs are prevalent in the TB area. Just look to the iconic Cotton Tree and her regulars as one example.

And let's be real about the problem. It's not the culture of gange that is the problem; it is the disease of crack which riddles many societies everywhere, including our beloved TB. It is a family issue. It is a societal issue. It is in all our best interests, it is positive vibes to support the victim and their family too!

Let us pray for the victims of the addictive drug and their families who must deal with the fall out as their loved ones loose control, start acting out, lying, being untrustworthy, irresponsible, unreliable and destructive. It often leaves their children to cope with absentee parenting and even deeper poverty levels.

Some people need a little guidance and encouragement now and then. Love the victim and actively involve and support him family too! Work together. Addictions are spiritual opportunites to heal.

Maybe a drug awareness program within the community groups, church groups and schools promoting the 'just say no,' concept may help the youth to influence and encourage their fathers, mothers, brothers, uncles, aunts, sisters et al to discover the strength to conquer their disease for themselves and for their families too.

The lack of response to this topic is a symptom of our collective denial.

Seems we are more interested in 'lyming'
susu, watchiwatchie, blingbling and the other manifestations of self rightiousness and the weakened self that results from not encouraging delaying gratification.

In short most of us are boasty but infantile.

My greatest wish is to see a turnaround in these matters.

Justice I can see where you are coming from but personally I've learned that trying to have a constructive debate on this forum is often reduced to personal attacks.Furthermore, I'm not convinced that the responses that appear are a true reflection of the messages being posted.Sometimes the message strikes a cord and lets face it the truth hurts.Lastly, lest I'm attacked for being 'foreign'I'm Jamaican born and bred.

Maybe nobody wants to comment on this very fragile topic, bearing in mind that the Police Department in general, is very corrupted. Money walks and money talks when it comes to Jamaican Police Officers. It takes a very bold and strong willed person to deal with them. However if you have the full cooperation of the citizens then some positive changes can be made. I am 100% in agreement with you and would like to help fight against the use and trafficking of drugs in the community. Treasure Beach needs generous, positive thinking people like you .Thank you so much for caring.

To GBG its so sad you have used this space to attack the Police dept.in the way you have your rights to freedom of expression is protected you do not live in a lawless country & i know i can attest to the fact that there is indeed decent men & women serving in the J.C.F.I will not condone any wrong doing by any serving member & any one found tarnishing the image of such an institution should be weeded out promptly .The statement you made is just too broad & wrong for the nearly 10'000 men & women on the force.
