There is a scam going around with someone emailing asking for reservations at your place. They go back and forth asking the "usual" questions and then make a booking. Then the following email comes along and that is where the scam takes place.
Thank you for your response. I am glad to tell you that i have concluded payment arrangements with my clients. However we are going to send you the Credit Card Information, that will cover the cost of our accomodation, and the necessary arrangment for my clients. Moreover, we also made an arrangement with a pre paid car hiring firm who will supply the delegates with cars they will use during their stay,so inorder not to share the information with a third party,we have decided that only one person will have to handle the credit card information.
So once you are in receipt of it,you are required to charge the credit card, and confirm the amount of ($4,500.USD) in your account then deduct the cost of your services($1,200 USD) and send ($3,300 USD) to the car hiring agent whose information will be forwarded to you once this is confirmed. Any other balance will be paid to you on arrival.
So confirm this and provide me with your
(1) YOUR FULL NAME
(2) ADDRESS
(3) PHON E NUMBERS for office records.
Please remember that the integrity of our agency is involved, so this business requires prompt response. I also hope the stay of my clients will be made comfortable.
You send the $3300 to the "car rental agency" and then you never get the credit card funds. Unfortunately, I've had a friend who became a victim to this and lost thousands of dollars.
So, please, BEWARE and BE ALERT.
Always be wary of being asked to give money in order to get money....
