Hi TB.com family. Today our California group shipped our School Supplies and Computers. 40 Computers and over 500LBs of Schools Supplies. YEAH!! We will be able to help 6 schools in St. Elizabeth/TB area this year!

The computers have the Windows 95 operating system loaded on them already. These are older refurbished laptops, not a long life left in them but enough to get a few kids and night class adults educated/certified. What we need is the software, like Excel, Microsoft Word, typing programs, etc. Do you have any old software (MUST BE Windows 95 compatible ONLY) you would like to donate to the project? The computers will be going to Sandy Bank School in TB and others schools still TBD once we find out which computers labs are sustainable. If you would like to help please email me at Sweetlipscalifornia@hotmail.com and put donation in the subject line. Any help would be appreciated!

Wow, that is great.

I will check to see what Windows 95 software I can dig up. If I find some, where it should be sent?

Is installing Linux on some of the computers a possibility?

I would suggest:
http://www.ubuntu.com/

They will even ship you free CDs:
https://shipit.ubuntu.com/

If you can post some details of the hardware (computer make/model), I can check to see if ubuntu is supported.

Hi John,

Sorry it’s taken so long to get back to you. I got the attached info from my IT guy here at work. I appreciate you digging through all your old stuff, I hope you come up with a winner. Thank you so much for your love and assistance to this project.

If you find something you can mail it to me at:

Here is a link to an old article on Win 95 when it just came out.

There have been no problems noted with the following applications, but 32-bit applications written for Windows 95 work best.

Microsoft Word for Windows 6.0 and 2.0
Microsoft Word for DOS 5.0
Microsoft Excel 4.0 and 5.0
dBase III+ and IV
PageMaker 4.0 and 5.0
Eudora 2.1
