It is a shame, in all my driving from TB to Kingston, we have the worst roads here in TB. I am specifically talking about the Pedro Plains Station to Mass Fred Road. What are they doing about it? Come on now, can someone please let the people know, we are tired of this donkey track, and imagine we market the area as a Tourist area.
Talk to any of our tourists and they'll tell you 'TB nice, but the Roads ....'. Also, for persons who have their businesses, I know for a fact that more persons would come in but the roads. What is happening??? Can someone get to our MP?
Many persons living above the police station in Southfield and other areas no longer come to Treasure Beach for dinner or a day at the beach due to the dangerous condition of the roads. We are all praying it will not take a tragic accident to get the attention of the MP.
What does it take to wake up these so-call politicans.
I visited Treasure Beach and love the place but I am afraid of coming back there or recommend it to anyone because it's too dangerous, I agree with the others it's taking away visitors and even residents from returning. It sure needs attention
That the current MP supported a candidate Portia
defeated should be reason enough to look beyond
the MP and present a signed petition in person
in Kingston. Portia loves good PR, as does any
politician, as do the media, especially with the recent press focus on the canal, now also stalled.
That the current MP found government money to buy the land for the putative sports park, whose roads will be controlled by the Parish Council,
rather than put it against the more pressing need for roads in general should also show that the only recourse is go around the MP and go to the top. That the Tourism Minister has visited TB and proclaimed it as a model for the rest of the island should also show that there are allies already at the top, beyond the grasp of local vested interests.
I've tried to stay out of this local matter, but gleaner reporter brings up something that has me "vexed". I see that there will be a sports park with ample parking, but situated in an area whose roads make it difficult to navigate. As our saying goes, isn't that like putting the cart before the horse?
I'm sure that Jamaica's politicians are similar to ours here in the states in that a squeaky wheel gets the most grease and in times of an election it pays to be noisy. Can't someone with a digital camera take some road pictures and send them to any newspaper or television outlet that supports an opposition candidate? Your MP might find that there's a problem that now needs an immediate fix (or at least before the next election).
The present MP is a lame duck, he won't be running for office again so he is busy having a good time.
At one time, Jason Henzell was being "groomed"
as the replacement. Is this still the case?
He should start looking a job.
Will the Senior Gleaner Writer who by the way is from Treasure Beach but at present residing in Kingston try harder to put it out there about the roads leading to this community how deporable the conditions are.Take a trip and take pictures of all the roads and present it to the Ministry that is in charge of all roads in the Island. .Put these pictures on the front page of the Gleaner for all to see.
Just like one writer said why build a sports park when there are no roads to get there.
Forget about the MP.Vote him out and put someone who is younger and if possible lives in the community and have to drive on those roads daily.
First, I believe, Gleaner Reporter, that you heard a rumor and not a fact.
Second, here is a question I have. Why do we always ask others to act on our behalf? My challenge to those reading this who would like to make a difference is to find out the appropriate names and contact information of the government officials who make the decisions concerning the roads. Then post this contact information so we can all either make a phone call or send an email.
I think it is unfair to ask others to act when we are not willing to put any effort into working towards a solution ourselves. It is very easy to take a few minutes to complain about a situation, but it takes dedication, sacrifice and effort to work towards change.
How about using your real names when posting about important issues like these? Using an alias seems a lot like hiding to me, and goes along with asking others to do things for you.
Take responsibility for what you say and for what you want done. If you want something done right, do it yourself.
My two cents.
