What's the latest with the huge trench or drain they have built from the Great Pond to the Old Wharfe roadway? It has been halted for over a month now, can someone enlighten the Community?
Thanks in advance.

I just spoke with George DeLeon, the president of the TB Citizens Alert Group and he said the NWA is still awaiting the completion of the box culvert bridge. Once that is complete, they will install it and the construction of the canal will continue.

It's just amazing how we do things 'backhand' at times. One would think that would have already been built - by first taking the specifications before digging, as I am sure they knew the measurements. By doing the above specifications beforehand the job would have been near completion by now. I also imagine that monstrous gully will have to be concreted, why couln't that be going on now? If a hurricane should come in its full force - I don't need to say any more. 'Without a Vision The People Perish'.

Maybe they don't have the money to finish the trench and are in fact waiting for the hurricane to bail them out with an excuse.

The permission to buiild the canal across someone's property to complete the project has created a halt in the project. The government has not got the permission from the owner so they are waiting on the due process of the law to take its course before they can complete the court hearings so that the government can acquire the land by "force".
Mr Stephen Shaw said at the meeting at Sandy Bank School that no one/person can stop the drain from being built. So we just have to wait until they get the rest of the money to finish it or the acquire the land they need to finish the project.

I'm sure the owner is willing to sell the land. Why don't the government buy the land?then continue the process.

Question: Does "acquire the land by force"
legally mean taking it by eminent domain, with or without compensation to owner? How long, given Jamaican courts/lawyers, do cases like these
generally take to achieve final resolution/enforcement?
