Now - Where are we at with respect to our roads?
We are obviously not getting anywhere. This is the stretch of Road by the Pedro Plains Police Station to 'Maas Donald Shop'. We are not singling out anyone now. TB Community what do we now do? - Next month is Hurricane Season and not a gravel 'nuh drop'. This is frightening!! Positive action now - 'Not a bag a mouth'. Calling and E-mailing - no response - always in meetings - What are we going to do?

We have been staying in Treasure Beach for vacation and we agree that the roads are a disgrace. It would appear that when you approach TB that the community must be very poor and this would discourage the new arrivals from coming any further. I remember when we first came to TB and we were suprised at how prosperous and welcoming the community is I would hate to see someone turn back and miss the opportunity to find this wonderful place.

May I suggest, that if Mohammed does not come to the mountain ,let the mountain come to Mohammed. It had taken too long for this road to be repaired. Even the police has no clout to get the job done, the mess starts from their front door and streches toward Calabash Beach they cannot get the politician to do anything. May be they are enjoying the eyesore.
Let do this, may be we will get some action, could someone please post the Treasure Beach representative to the Black River and to Kingston Offices. Both the home and the office phone numbers. We should have a phone drive call them at home, at the office and call many times, multiple times and remind them we put them in office. The word is Lead,Follow or get the hell out of the way. Please Somebody post the phone numbers and let have some action. It is about time we get some result.I will be the first to call, I am in USA and I am sick of it. Each time I come to Treasuer it is the same BS, what does it take. Please make the call.

SojiO, you have a point! If we can get a hold of these numbers and bombard their office with phone calls daily eventually they will get tired and do something about it.

I have a crazy suggestion: Perhaps someone/a group from the community could start a fundraising--money, material, labor, etc. It appears to me that even in the USA, we cannot get proper public service to our satisfaction. Maybe there is just not enough public funds to keep up with the damages caused by natural disasters.

Yes Neutral, why not? Either "dem nuh hab no monee", the road works system is asleep or there are too many 'cooks' (cooks I said not crooks).

The presence of a TV crew would be helpful, if the media is independent, when the repairs are started.

I pay into this fund generously every month. The name of the fund is taxes.

Maybe the new slogan should be "No taxation without representation" and we should throw a load of tea into Calabash Bay?!?!?!?!

Can you tell I'm from Massachusetts, home of the Boston Tea Party - where the residents were sick of paying high taxes to the British government and seeing no benefits from paying those taxes. This act, some say, was the start of the American Revolution.

So far as I know, there is no villa owner, hotel owner, or guest house owner who doesn't pay a good amount of taxes to the Jamaican government. And, we agree that the condition of the roads in and near Treasure Beach is deplorable. I can recall instances in which it took us close to two hours to get from Black River to Treasure Beach, and I wondered why we didn't bother to go by boat instead of trying to use roads that looked like something in Iraq. As villa owners, we would be delighted to sign any reasonable petition; and we would encourage any others to do the same, whether they live abroad or in (or near) Treasure Beach.

If someone put together a petition, I feel that perhaps 20 or so civic-minded citizens could go through the Treasure Beach area and get hundreds and hundreds of signatures from residents -- people whose lives are adversely impacted by the horrible road situation each and every day.

This petition could then be presented to the proper government officials; plus, it could be shown to a reporter at the Gleaner -- and perhaps be publicized to both radio and TV stations. This would let officials know that the community as a whole is disgusted. Perhaps the embarrassment of this might prompt the government into actually doing something instead of providing empty promises which never seem to amount to anything.

We have a bit more than two weeks until hurricane season starts, and this can't wait.

Is there someone in Treasure Beach who can get the ball rolling on a petition?

Better to throw those that have squandered our taxes into said Bay!

With life jackets of course.
