In a recent post Earl made a great sujestion about a park (for young and old),we Jamaicans especially from south St Elizabeth take very good care of our older relatives ,even households with
limited income,they are always clean and fed but
we forget they need to socialize with people there own age.put two elderly people to sit together then stand back and listen to the stories you would be amazed.
ANY OTHER IDEAS ABOUT THE PARK OR WHAT WE CAN DO TO HELP OUR OLDER FOLKS ?

A park, I haven't been home in a while, So I wonder where you would put it. How ever being in farine. A park is for all young and old, Where families can get together, The only problem with parks here is young people can be so destructive. But I know the young ones in TB can never be the same to the ones here. They are much more respectful. I remember one of my greatest joy was sitting among the elders and learning from them. I think it would help the youths as well because the elders are very knowledgable in life. So i think if a park is being built it should be for all. After all what makes TB is that it is a community of people where people look out for each other.

I think a park in treasure beach is a very good idea, the kids there will love it, and i will also give the elderly a relaxing peace of mind where they can sit and enjoy the nice cool breeze and watch the sun set. I worked with the elderly and am telling you some time all they want to do is to be left alone and enjoy the fresh air, and to talk with others.And for the kids there will be some thing for them to do as well maybe even a play ground.

THIS IS A GOOD IDEA, HOWEVER WHY NOT WORK ON CLEANING UP THE COMMUNITY FIRST. WE HAVE TOO MANY IDLERS (JUST GO ALONG THE BEACH ON ANY DAY) WHO WOULD LOVE THIS IDEA TO SIT AND CREATE MISCHIEF IN THE PARK E.G. DRUGGIES. THE BIGGER STAKE-HOLDERS IN THE COMMUNITY COULD WORK IN THIS AREA. BY ALSO HELPING TO EDUCATE THESE LAZY PEOPLE AND PROVIDE SOME EMPLOYMENT (IT IS A BIG TASK BUT IT CAN BE DONE). OTHERWISE, THE PARK WILL BE BUILT FOR THESE PEOPLE WHO WILL SEE IT AS JUST ANOTHER AREA TO HANG-OUT DOING NOTHING DAILY.
IT IS TIME WE STOP PRETTYING UP THINGS AND FACE THE FACTS FIRST. THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM IN THE COMMUNITY, AND IT IS GROWING.

Shaded domino & chess tables for the old, swings & slides for the youngest, and a field to play soccer/cricket/etc for the teenagers. Everyone is occupied while the parents work!
