Treasure Beach Forum: TB Runnin's: What to do as a single in TB?

Greetings all. I am making my second trek to TB later this month and for better or worse I am coming alone this time. I already have a healthy schedule of relaxing, walking, eating and maybe finally learning to play dominos planned :-)

I also plan on going to the Pelican and Little Ochie for sure even though it might be a tad strange alone.

Any other ideas on day trips or other activities for a single guy in late april in TB?

No ideas, but curious to see what answers you get, as I'll be on my own at the end of the month in TB, too. Was thinking about going to Little Ochie, and thinking how weird that might be on my own. I was thinking about posting here for dinner company and a share of the boat ride, so ... want to get a fish dinner together one night?

Don't worry, I'm sure when you reach TB you will find someone to keep your company.

Stuck in Memphis, where are you staying ? Because if you stay at a guesthouse, you might find other lodgers who want to share a tour etc.Sometimes the boattour guides collect people from different guesthouses for the tours

Hey, I'm going to be in TB the last two weeks of April and was hoping to find someone to share a ride to Little Ochie and Pelican as I'm also traveling alone. Actually, I went to TB alone in November and had a great time, but my budget is limited and it would be great to have someone to share the cost of the ride. If interested, please e-mail me. Thanks!

Hey, Vickie--Maybe you, me and Memphis should make a plan to share the ride out to Little Ochie. Anyone else interested in a seafood trip at the end of April?

Sounds like a plan to me. I will be at Jake's from the night of the 24th until May.

Great! I'll be at Viking's April 15 - 29......and I'm stuck in rainy Oregon - can't wait for a warm, sunny beach!

Try the Black River tour up the river if you like croc's or as you are making a few friends share a ride to Appleton Estate (this is where they make some of the jamaican rums).

Hey Stuck in Memphis,
Sounds like you'll have your pick of Mermaids on your trip. Wish I could be there to do the same...

Enjoy!

Great, sounds as though we might actually have the makings of a plan! I'll be in TB from the 22nd until May ...

lol, lol, Stevareno, I'm crackin' up here! I may be 52 going on 30 (sometimes younger if you throw in a couple of shots of tequila, some good old rock-n-roll, and a dance floor!), but I think I'm beyond mermaid status - of course, I don't know how long mermaids live! Hope this message doesn't scare off my Little Ochie companions - hey Little Ochie Share and Stuck in Memphis, I'm lots of fun with a young spirit and looking forward to making new friends while enjoying a great meal. (I'll try not to embarass either of you - but if music is playing, I can't seem to control my feet!) :-)

Hey, Stevareno, how on earth did you guess that I'm a 'she' and not a 'he'? Clever. Vickie, don't count yourself out of mermaid status just yet! I'm in NYC and every year at the Coney Island Mermaid Parade I parade around with mermaids of ALL ages. In our float two years ago, we had mergirls ranging from 12 to 70 ... and our 70-year-old mermaid was totally fabulous and a hit with all the photographers!

As for dinner plans, how should we try getting connected once we're all in TB?

Probably the easiest would be to pick a central location and time to meet and just converge there. I am open to suggestions as to when/where but probably somewhere between the 25th and 28th (if I am reading all our schedules right) would work best, and we should probably pick a backup date/time just in case of weather issues.

Mermaids are wonderful, timeless, beautiful women.
My father - a wise Welshman - told me: "Son, you'll only just once in your lifetime catch a Mermaid - so don't let her escape from the net. Treat her well, respect her, love her, be her best friend and you'll be happier than you'd ever imagined you could be..."

Hi,
My wife, a friend from school and I will be at Jakes during the same time frame. If I were you, Keith, I'd escort one of these friendly ladies to Ochi, but you're welcome to share a ride with us on some excursions. We'll likely do all the local excursions plus maybe play golf in Mandeville. Who knows.
Cheers & see you there,
Brett

My Dad is a fisherman, as was his father and father before him. Now I'm the big fisherman in the family...

Striped Bass when I'm home in the States - fom Montauk, N.Y. down to North Carolina and Tarpon, Permit, Bonefish, Barracuda and Lemon Shark when I take my annual trip to Belize. If I could figure out how to post a photo I send one along of a mosterous Barracuda I caught last year. What kind of big fish are you thinking of ?

So, to just pick a couple of options at random ...

Why don't we say April 26th with the 28th as our raindate? And for meet-up location, I'd suggest Frenchman's where the boats come in. (Forgive my shameful ignorance, but isn't there a little bar right there?) And Brett, if you and your wife and friend care to join us ... I suspect 'the more the merrier' definitely applies here.

What time?

Hi Kalona-
I'm in Eugene. Maybe when we're longing for Treasure Beach and can't be there, we could meet halfway and bring our pictures and stories and just have a little Treasure Beach party in Oregon! I don't know how your weather has been in the southern area, but we've had a lot of cold, rainy weather in the valley and I'm really looking forward to some sunshine!
