Has anyone stayed at Pelicans Reach? Can you give me an idea on the location/area? How is the snorkeling compared to Fort Charles?

Thank you, Nurse Ratchet. Where did you stay? Also, how is the snorkeling?

I stayed in a private home (freinds auntie). Sorry, I didn't do any snorkeling.

You are going to see a lot of fish if you snorkel around Pedro Bluff (around the Bluff from Great Bay). Keep in mind though, that there is a bit of everything in there... beautiful fish, rays, eels, and also Barracuda. I remember once snorkelling there with one of my good friends from T.B. and I ran across this wall of tiny silverfish which I literally could not see through. I surfaced and asked my friend what they were and he told me to immediately get to shore and out of the water... they were the "feeder fish" for Barracuda. Also be mindful when snorkelling in T.B. to not grab onto coral (a lot of eels make their homes in the coral), and just know to stay calm if you run across anything daunting. There is great snorkelling out at Sunny Island and Pelican Reef at the drop off as well. I have swam tandum with Rays there and seen some little Nurse sharks (or would they be Brown sharks?), and tons of beautiful reef fish!

I have a friend who was spear fishing near the bluff and found an old, old, old automatic rifle. He brought it up, but then had to find a safe way to get it over to the police station!

Can't wait to go snorkeling. Thank you for the info. Can you tell me how far it is to Pedro Bluff, Sunny Island, and Pelican Reef from Pelicans Reach/Blue Marlin? Within walking distance? Would love to hear from someone who stayed at Pelicans Reach.

Great Bay beach is a nice little stretch of sandy beach with no reef in the shallow parts that I know of.

A woman who posts on Jamaicas.com stayed at pelican's Reach and was quite pleased.

If I can figure out how to post pics here I will put a few up for you.

I'll be there next Saturday. I've never been inside but stayed at Coquina last Nov and noticed it on the beach. Looked cute and has the enclosed veranda, never went inside. I'll post pictures once I return after the 20th. I did hear that they fenced the property recently so not so open. The cook/housekeeper lives on the property but not in the house.
