I booked a flight (on US Air through Orbitz) in late Jan. I received an e-mail on Feb 5 changing my return flight to an earlier departure and longer duration (though it did not mention a conection).

Today I received a 2nd e-mail changing my flight to one with a connection and 3 hour lay over.

My 90 minute flight to Fort Lauderdale has been changed t0 a flight to a nearly 4 hour flight to Charlotte NC , a 2 hour lay over followed by an almost 2 hor flight from Charlotte NC to FLL.

Think twice before dealing with Orbitz or US Air !!!

Orbitz was decent about it (once I finally got through to a person). US Air is refunding the price of ticket. So I only lost a few bucks.

I think I'll check Spirit & Air Ja.

I have flown USAIR probably a dozen times to Jamaica during the last 4 years. Booking through Travelocity, there was never a problem. But recently I booked a flight through Orbitz to London, and had quite a problem. Perhaps the problem was Orbitz - I will just use Travelocity from now on.

This season, US AIR leads the pack in lower prices
AND reliablity. Other than a few lowball promo
offers and quickie sales for Spirit, US Air's track record is far better than Spirit or AJ on the delays and snafus factor. American Airlines is
also 'old reliable'. Flights booked on=line
can be problemmatic, even when confirmed, as
the airline schedules are never set in stone.

The e-mail I got from Orbitz stated that US Air had changed my itinery. It happened TWICE. The 2nd change was to an 8 hour trip (with a 2 hour lay over). I booked a direct 95 minute trip.

I've bought tickets on Orbitz, Expedia and Travelocity before and never had a problem before.

This was my 1st (and LAST) dealing with US Air.

I flew US Air once to Jamaica and have flown Air Jamaica the last 5 times with no problems at all. PLUS - Air jamaica flights include a meal AND drinks. Nothing like a Red Stripe on the way...

Air Jamaica did provide breakfast on my last (AM)flight to Jamaica. (Dec 05). On the way back Jan 06 (evening flight) the gave out a small snack (like bags of chips).

My first trip to JA was with USAir, and it was a misery. First they delayed the flight so long that I would have missed my connecting flight. They they booked me on an American Airlines flight with a 3-HOUR stop over before connecting to an Air Jamaica flight that got us into TB so late all I could do when I got there was take a bite of food and fall asleep. The whole first day of the trip was wasted sitting in airports!

I've had no trouble with Air Jamaica. I've flown with them four times now, and they've been great. I like that they have conveniently-timed non-stops from NYC and that there are later-in-the-day returns from JA so that I don't have to leave TB at the crack of dawn to catch my flight (I want to spend every possible second in TB!). And I like that they serve meals (and that they have Ting!).

Sadly, AIR JAMAICA no longer operates north of NYC. For New Englanders, only US AIR and AMERICAN fly to MoBay (and Spirit thru Providence to Lauderdale to MoBay). Only this winter has a non-stop from Logan been put on the US Air schedule. Air Jamaica was perfect, but no longer an option. American thru Miami is always an option and easier than making the tighter US Air connections thru Phily or Charlotte on the returns than US Air. They're all cattle cars now -- with none of the undefinable vibe that makes all the problems of Air Jamaica unimportant.
