Hello! I just wanted to thank Jamaica and especially Treasure Beach for a great vacation! And, the school supplies reached their destination! Our baggage was overweight at the airport leaving but after an explanation and a quick view, they let us slide. We had over 160 pounds of paper, pencils and books! We didn't have a problem at customs as we were traveling with a Rasta who name dropped (friends of Rebel Salute performers).. and cautious driving and plenty of help along the way got us to TB safely. As we arrived we stopped to ask someone where Sandy Bank was located and the lovely gentleman happened to be Conroy, the 5th grade teacher! Quite a coincidence that showed us we were definitely on the right path. We delivered the suitcases to the school but did miss seeing the children they went to.
I do hope that anything Sandy Bank Primary can’t use will be passed on as there were things for younger children than 6 and there was what must have been a bag of 200 or more pens and pencils for anyone. The collection was a group effort from here in Ukiah, California; a small town in Mendocino county. You might run into that name as the pens circulate the island.
It was a great experience and I hope to return to Jamaica again.
Thank you,
Genevieve
