My husband and I are flying into Mobay Airport Dec. 21 and staying at Jakes. Any advice about transport...are there taxis outside airport to barter with? What should we expect to pay?

Mustangh ask for Fuddy (Richard James) at Jakes he's an awesome driver, he has picked me up several times, very safe. You will have to pay around $100-$120 no matter who you choose.

I agree with Rebecca. It's so much easier to have your hotel make the arrangements, and the drivers from Jake's (I've traveled with four of them) are great. The fare is about $100US one way, plus tip. I paid the same for a route taxi last time I was down, but didn't feel nearly as secure for that trip (no seat belts, really erratic driving, etc.).

I spend about $100 - $120 even when I have freinds pick me up. It's only fair. It is a long drive from TB - MoBay then back to TB.

Thanks for the responses. We are really looking forward to our adventure in Treasure Beach. We will definately contact Gairy Brooks for the scooter rentals.

To everyone going to Jamaica for the first time I would say to you "Please have someone from the resort you are going to stay make Airport pick-up reservations for you". They know all the reliable good drivers, much safer than jumping in a taxi at the Airport.I would also ask for the name of the person that is coming to get me.Here in the States the drivers hold up a sign with your name on it.Good luck.

Unless yoy know people who can recomend a good driver it may be best to have the guest house arrange it. It will be safer and there is less chance of having to argue about the fare.
