As we reflect on the one year anniversary of Hurricane Ivan, we give thanks.

Thanks for lives spared.

Thanks to businesses, governments, charities, organizations, individuals, and communities all coming together for the common cause of rebuilding.

Thanks to ALL who donated cash, in kind, thoughts, and prayers.

THanks that a year later we can look back and see how truly blessed we are and how far we have come in the rebuilding process.

As we say thanks we also remember the Moxam family as they suffered the greatest loss of their son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Hursley "Precka" Moxam.

We would also like to remember all those in the world today suffering from the effects of a natural disaster. May they be treated to the same love and kindness from others that we were blessed to receive.

You can view a slideshow with Ivan's Destruction, the Relief given, and the Rebuilding that has occurred.

We invite you to add your personal experiences, recollections, and thoughts on the impact of Ivan below.

Eric, that was awesome! (though the screens a little blurry from puddles o'water in my eyes)

That was a horrible time. Complete feelings of helplessness is what comes to mind. Waiting for phone calls from friends, trying to dial out and getting no response, that fluttery-in-your-gut feeling that the crap had truly hit the fan and there was nothing you could do about it but send a few bucks thru tb.net. It was as if a beast had swallowed up the island, and we visitors could only sit and watch the weather channel, and TB.net reports.

Then, as the reports began to fly, slowly at first, than constant, I began to feel a little relief. The phone calls came. Gawd, that was a difficult time for me, and I'm just an out of towner. I cant imagine what it must have been like in person. (no hurricanes up here since "bob" in 1991) :o)
