The 3rd Annual South Coast Jazz Festival was held on Friday and Saturday nights at the Sunset Resort & Villas. Another great success, many of us were treated to some delicious food, lovely ambiance and fabulous music! What more could you ask for!
The festivities began each night at 7:00 p.m. with an incredible rendition of the Jamaica National Anthem and Amazing Grace performed by Byard Lancaaster.
A buffet dinner was served complete with conch chowder, pumpkin soup, salads, roast beef rib eye, escovitch fish, whole suckling pig with apple/mango sauce, chicken and beef kebobs, risotto, etc., etc. all prepared by our very own Chef.
We dined poolside while looking on the stage and being entertained by The Crusaders, a band out of Savannah-la-Mar playing a mixture of gospel, reggae, and top 40.
On Friday night Randy Lippincott gave us a musical history of the Blues.
Karen Smith mesmerized the audience with her powerful voice jazzing up the affair, throwing in a bit of skat in the end.
Mark Pritchett showed us all that there is more to The Observer's CEO than strictly business when he stepped on stage and picked up his guitar. Mr. Pritchett gave us a musical history of the great Muddy Waters.
The night came to a rousing conclusion with all performers coming on stage and treating us to a medley of the Blues.
Saturday night highlighted the incomparable Barbara Walker who had us up on our feet swinging to the beat!
The finale on Saturday night included Barbara gathering all the children in the audience up on stage and having them singing the Sesame Street song, great fun!
A drawing for door prizes was held with the grand prize being a weekend for two at the Sandals Resort, Whitehouse.
Everyone left with mind, body and soul fully satiated! Ah, bring on the 4th Annual Jazz Festival . . . we're ready!

Thanks to all the sponsors and attendees for making this a year to remember.
It was cool to see some pictures of Zim. When we stayed at Sunset Villa he always took very good care of us. Its been a few years since I've been to Jamaica but Treasure beach has been my favorite place because of people like Zim who are are friendly and helpful. I hope to be back sometime soon.
Man - sure makes me wish I was there.
Looks like it was a great party.
Thanks for the great photos and as we all know "The Blues is Allright" ! What a line-up.
Keep well everyone,
big hugs and plenty of love
Hey Maureen, good to hear from you!! I understand you have connections with a really great Blues artist. Maybe you could influence him into coming down for the festival next year!
