The Sponsoring body and Staff of the Sandy Bank Early Childhood Institute held an appreciation ceremony honouring Mrs. Iney Thompson on Sunday, May 22.
Mrs. Thompson was a co-founder and dedicated teacher who spent thirty eight years of active service at the above mentioned school. She rendered an indelible service in the field of early childhood education in this community.
The appreciation ceremony included children of the school singing a song which they wrote for the occasion;
speeches delivered by a representative of the Ministry of Education; the current principal of the school, Paula Deleon;
the principal of the Sandy Bank Primary School,
Norma Moxam; Rev. Tulloch representing the Pedro Plains Anglican Church; and a few past students.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Hugh Ashman (a former student) gave an inspiring speech regarding the important task of raising children both in the school and home.
A citation was presented to Mrs. Thompson by a past student, Tricialee Moxam.
We congratulate Mrs. Thompson on her 38 years of service to the Sandy Bank Basic School.
