The Sandy Bank Primary School Environmental Club put on an exhibition on Wednesday, April 27 in preparation for the major judging from the School’s Environment Programme (SEP), an organization which seeks to promote environmental awareness and action in students. The exhibits were projects done by the students throughout the school year under these four main categories.

1.Management of Waste
2.Greening (beautifying the school grounds)
3.Establishing or Strengthening of an Environmental Club
4.Environmental Research

In the first category the Grade 6 children reused waste material in the environment to make jewelry, mats, trinket boxes, etc. Deanna Dicker and Dave Lloyd used multimedia to put on a presentation on recycling.

I find it interesting to note that about 50% of the students mentioned in the 2005 item went on to become recipients of Treasure Beach Foundation scholarships. These students shone in their very early years.

Wow! We all look so different now lol. This seems like only yesterday. Seeing this post and these pictures again really remind me of where I'm coming from and even though I'm in university now, the values and teachings I learned during my years at Sandy Bank are still with me. An environmental club which has achieved so much is something to be proud of and I am happy I was a part of it during my years at Sandy Bank Primary.
