My wife and I visited Treasure Beach for the first time the last week of March 2005. I am just getting around to writing about the trip because 1)we were very busy at work in April, and 2) it is not fun to think about our vacation being over. Anyway - we had a great time in and around Treasure Beach. Stayed at Sunset, in the room called "Sunset Dream 1". It was just what we were looking for: reasonable price, not too fancy - but still very comfortable, and just enough privacy - with the convenience of a bar and restaurant close to the room. And what a view! Speaking of the restaurant - we ended up eating the grilled lobster at Sunset three of the seven nights that we were there. Each time the lobster was larger, and the last night - we each had half of an eight pounder. Kory and the staff were super! I was not quite as active at night as I had planned - primarily because the new bar overlooking the sea at Sunset was so perfect - and Mitchel, the bartender made great drinks, served the coldest Red Stripe in town, and she was wonderful company.
Of course, we ate at Jack Sprat a couple of times - it was also excellent. So were Trans Love Bakery (for breakfast), Little Ochi, and South Jammin'.
We went on the well publicized Black River / Pelican Bar boat tour with Captain Kirk. It was better than I could have ever expected. The crab at Sista Lou's on the river was so tasty that we made Kirk stop on the way up the river and on the way back down. After reading about the Pelican Bar, I wanted to go - I thought it would be cool. But it was better than that - I can't describe the feeling I had just sitting there, drinking a Red Stripe, and looking around at the sea surrounding us. Although the sea was a bit rough on the way back, we had complete confidence in Kirk.
Our other day trip was a road trip to Milk River, Guts River, and Alligator Pond (where we dined at Little Ochi). A driver named Ronnie took us in his new toyota minivan. He also took us by his home overlooking the sea where we met his wife, Lillian, and had a glass of wine. Excellent trip. Ronnie also provided our transportation to and from the airport. His number is (876) 853-2058. Very safe and dependable driver.
One thing we did not know until we got there that really speaks to how nice Treasure Beach is: several Jamaicans from other areas were spending their holiday in Treasure Beach.
I have to say that this website paints a pretty accurate picture of TB. If not for the website, I would never have come up with the idea of going to TB. Several regular posters helped me out with advice. Thanks to everyone - especially the residents of Treasure Beach.

Likewise. Thanks for the advice and for hooking us up with Ronnie. Maybe we will meet in TB one day. I think it may be a few years before we are able to go back, though. We want to wait until our 9 month old son can really enjoy it.
