First of all thanks for the great forum and website!
I am planning our next family vacation and after much researching decided that TB would be a great spot!
Can anyone give suggestions for a place to stay- i have read the info on the website and there looks to be several great villas. Any one that would be better suited for kids- we will be traveling with a 6 & 9 year old and would like a pool.
thanks so much!

Villas with pools, all suitable for families with children, include:
Unforgettable/Fort Charles
Great Escape/Fort Charles
Rainbow Tree/Billy's Bay
La Sirena/NEW/Billy's Bay
Hikaru/Billy's Bay
The Buccaneer/Billy's Bay
Sparkling Waters/btw/Frenchman's & Billy's Bay
Lyric/Calabash Bay

Plans are afoot at a number of other villas to add pools this season.

I would ckeck out the where to stay section of this site. See what places interest you and are in your desired price range. Then you can ask for opinions of specific places.

The 3 places that I have stayed in TB and would recommend are Irie Rest (Billy's Bay), Viking's House (Great Bay), and Shakespeare Cottage (Frenchmans Bay). They are all good budget options.

Places that I know but have never stayed in that look awesome (but are out of my $ range) are Hikaru (Billy's Bay), Blue Marlin (Great Bay) and Unforgetable (Fort Charles).

It really depends on what you are looking for and your budget.

I have not been to Treasure Beach yet, but will be there the 1st 2 weeks in May. We are staying at Hikaru. It seems like it would be kid friendly. It has a pool, with a pool alarm, croquet and tennis court. The beach is reef protected with a safe snoreling spot.

I would be happy to send you some pictures and more info. upon our return.

I can tell you our transaction with the owners Don & "Brad" Noel have been awsome. They have been very helpful and provide alot of information.

Blue Marlin/Coquina is heaven on earth. We (5 couples with 6 kids under 5) just spent a week there in Feb. and it could not have been better. The 3 Parchment sisters along w/Michael made our
stay the best vacation most of us had ever taken. The food is outstanding and the property is breathtaking. As far as price it is pretty reasonable considering what you get. The beach is truly deserted and the people are so friendly.
Must reccomend a massage @ Shirley Genus' also as it is a true Jamaican experience. Good luck!

We have stayed at Sunset many times. We go several times a year. We have never taken our kids, but I would certainly recommend it. Kory South, who operates the resort, is great. He has 2 small children that live there, so he is very aware of safety for them. The whole staff is very accommodating, including the chef, so I am sure you would enjoy it.

I am going to Unforgettable next month, I will be happy to share my experience. I have booked it already and so far my experience has been great. Very professional and detailed in every way. I will have even more info after I return.

We've stayed at Hikaru...and Miss Joyce is wonderful...great place for kids. We just returned with our two girls ages 13 & 14 from SunSplash Villas...this would be a really great place for kids as the pool is on the same level as the villa...3 bedrooms...great...can't go wrong with either...you'll fall in love with TB!!!

I have to say choosing between Blue Marlin & Hikaru would be a tough choice ! Both places are lovely. I've met Miss Joyce & Vernal (hope I spelled that right)who work at Hikaru and they are lovely. Michael who works at Blue Marlin is also really nice. I don't think Blue Marlin has a pool (like Hikaru), does it ? But, I do think Blue Marlin has a nicer beach (IMHO the best in TB).

Anyone still looking to secure accommodation for Calabash weekend?

If so, Mikarabee Villa is available again (due to it not being quite big enough for the group that booked it!!.

Five bedrooms and sleeping up to 10 people, with its own pool, its just a short drive from Treasure Beach. Mikarabee Villa is listed on TBNet. Take a look (www.mikarabee.com) and contact us!

What about the Olde Wharf Hotel?

We are planning our 7th trip to Jamaica, 4th trip to TB and our 3rd to Hikaru. We will be arriving the day after Taunaj leaves and I can guarantee your first trip to Hikaru will be magical!! Miss Joyce and Mr. Valney are wonderful at meeting your every need and Miss Joyce's delicious meals are better than you'll find anywhere on the island.

Does anyone know if there are any scooter's available to rent in TB? We have always managed to catch rides with generous neighbors but would like the convenience of a scooter and do not want the hassle of renting a car.

The Olde Wharf Hotel closed down several years ago.

kim, you obviously know the area well, so one suggestion for a stay would be blue marlin over in great bay, good rock free beach, safe swimming [ no undertow] and the villa and staff are supurb,
bluemarlinvillas.com
about scooters, dont know maybe rebecca will answer that one for you.

I read in another post on this site that there are indeed mopeds for rent from Gairy Brooks.

Persons can also check out Mountain View cottage which is right beside the Jakes owned Treasure Cot, its great for families and just a few minutes from the beach. I think its 4 bedrooms and baathroom, recently remodelled.

yes i am, along with my sisters and brother. it is truly a heavenly place, some of my fondest memories are right there in great bay. this part of jamaica is very special, it still has not been corrupted by the quest for the almighty dollar, it is a community that cares about one another if something happens to someone the community will be right there to help out, even if they are competitors.
if you havnt been to this area please do go, you will have found your home away from home, as many others on this board will attest to.
anything i can do to help you make up your mind just ask, however, up-to-date info would probably be best found from others who actually live there, my sister, sandy, can be reached through the blue marlin web site and i can be gotton at nige55@hotmail.com
