I just returned from a 12 day stay at Shakespear Cottage. We really enjoyed our stay. The seperate room at the back of the property was like having our own likkle house. The kids had plenty of room to romp. We enjoyed looking 'pon the farm animals on the land behind us (especially 3 new born kids). All in all it was a great deal for the $$.

Another poster had commented that she found the rooms to be hot. I found the room to be hot early in the evening. We sat outside early in the evening. Once we tied up the curtains there was a breeze and with the fan the room was comfortable.

Hey Curious, Thanks for sharing with others the method of "Staying Cool" at Shakespeare Cottage. It's been a year since I was there and the living room had a plush sofa and all the other chairs in the living room and verandah were suited with "cushioned" pillows to sit on and lean against your back. There were also excess pillows, some of which were body length which everyone was welcome to take and place on the sun platfrom if you wish to lie out there. Is it still not the same? Why has some one posted such an unfounded story in February?

I will be staying at Shakespeare Cottage in two weeks. Will you be staying there on your next trip to TB. One visitor recently posted that she hope to make Shakespeare's her home away from home. I have made it my home away from home for the last 15 years and one thing I do know that most of the natives, many of which are proprietors of Guest Houses are "one-blood" who support each other and do not wish for their visitors to publicize unfounded facts especially on the www with the intent and purpose of luring guest from any one particular Guest House.

To each his own, and I must add all the Guest Houses in TB are lovely in their own unique way.

Like you and majority of visitors, let's all remember the intent of TB.net "A FORUM FOR POSITIVE VIBEZ" and I wish to discourage others from using it like a Rag Magazine for Cheap Shots.

Cant wait to get to Shakespeare Cottage!!!!!!!!!!

Mair, sorry, no pics. My camera refused to work. (it was one of those that the drug store replaces film free if you develop photos there).

USA, yes there are still cushioned seats on the veranda & a soft couch in the living room. We will very likely stay there next trip. It worked out great for us. My stepson came to stay with us on week ends (there are two beds in the room / one double ,one twin). The rate was for the room / so it did n't cost us any extra $$ for him to come stay with us. That made it a really sweet deal. Also he and a friend were able romp in the yard with no problem or complaints. Doreen, Miss Darcy & Blackie made us feel very much at home.

I agree, most of the guest houses in TB are a great deal.

Hey Mair, I was just looking at the photos you posted. I see the pond that was behind the room we had at Shakespear Cottage. I will look at those photos almost daily to get me through till my next trip. Thanks.

Awww that's great. :-)

Hey, was the goat that kept getting his head stuck in the fence still up to his tricks while you were there? lol

No. But I was convinced one goat was going to mash me up while I was hanging clothes on the line. (the goat kept pulling to the end of it's rope trying to get close to me / or so it seemed). I yelled for my husband. He came out and gave the poor thing a pail of water. The poor ting was thirsty. She gave birth to 3 kids the next morning. We fed her our left overs for the rest of our stay. There were some goats with sticks tied around their necks to keep them from getting caught in the fence.

I insisted that I'd seen chickens walking by the pond. They were John Crowes. We saw them drink water, which my huband said most people never see.

My stepson & his friend kicked a football over the fence. One of the cows (HUGE !!) walked right up to the ball to investigate. The boys were set to challange the cow with rocks & a stick. (as I screamed at them not to trouble the cow)Fortunately the cow just walked away totally disinterested.

I enjoyed sitting on the step watching the animals by the pond.
