I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the summers are like in T.B. I'm going to be heading down in July, and I've only been during the winter time so I have NO idea what I'm in for as far as heat, mosquitoes, etc... Now, as far as mosquitoes go - they're going to find me any time of the year. I still have scars on my legs from January. I'm bringing my 9 yr old along... any tips, advice, thoughts on visiting during the summer months?
Thanks
I have spent time there in July. It was rather hot, however, no more than in October. The only time I have noticed a change in the heat was a week or so before Christmas. I actually needed a light sweater when walking at night! The mosquitos do not bother me much. We always take a citonella candle to burn on the porch, around out lounge, etc. in the early mornings and as the sun sets and at night. They also sell some coil-type repellents that you light and they burn around in a circle. You can buy these at about any of the little markets in TB. My husband thinks they are good. I'll be returning to TB in April and am counting the days!
I have been to TB a few summers. The buggies are a little more active, but some repellent, the candles and mosquito coil takes care of them. Most of the time the weather's fine, but once in a while the heat really got too much and then I would just relax under a tree with a book for the day. Let's face it, no matter when you're there TB's wonderful.
You will become good friends with with Jaqui at Golden Sands buying her skin so soft bug repellent that she sells. It is pretty hot, but still my favorite time of year. Tourism is down and real friendship abounds.
Nice! Thanks for all the great responses. I appreciate them.
I agree. It can be a little hot, and the mosquitos are out. But, I still hope & pray to get to TB this summer.
